Chow Tape is an analog tape machine physical model, based on the Sony TC-260. Useful for that vintage, top-of-the-line 1967 consumer audio sound.
The current version can be used to emulate a wide variety of reel-to-reel tape machines.

I have j37 and studer a800, and this one is my favourite of them all! Keep in mind they are all used for different things! J37 is really good on drums and studer a800 is good on master, but none of them have just magically fit with everything the same way this one has!
Could you pass on the settings on Chow tape to emulate the a800 please?
I got a false positive virus thingy when I tried to install.

An absolute must have. Paid or not, this is a fantastic plugin. Thank you!

Still the all-time best free tape emulation so far. The latest version (2.11.1) is choppy as heck, though. Luckily the version here (2.9.0) in plugins4free is the last good version for my PC. They need to fix that GUI.

This don't work on windows 8
This works on Windows 8.1 x64
It's very strange, I tried it on windows 8 x64, but it didn't work. So I installed it in windows 10 x64 and there it works
How to install this plugin? Flstudio says that i need some files??
Like this, but it's a bit heavy on the juice?

And for these purposes, I have a huge, reel-to-reel tape recorder, and it copes with these problems better than all plug-ins!
I really understand you - a real tape gadget is unique and easy to afford. It hasn´t to be a fancy "St*der". An old tape recorder can make your day ;) But sometimes I´m lucky with simulations just because it´s so fast´n´easy.

Love this plugin, very good, works great on linux , thank you very much :)

This is full commercial quality handling and sound-wise. There are so many settings, the tape sound can be shaped to some extent for individual taste. Result is a damn fine go-to or desert island tape emulation, all you might ever need. Enough said. For low rigs: the CPU performance should be fine on lowest oversampling setting, possibly even on 2x.

Really nice plugin

I'm in agreement with all of the other comments. This plugin is GREAT, but it does take a considerable hit on my CPU.

Best free tape emulation period. It's made to be used more as an effect but works great on busses and for mastering! In terms of quality of sound it's as good as U-he Satin and better than the Waves tape emulations.

Very realistic R2R. But it takes 30% hit on my CPU

The plugin is not bad, but the CPU load leaves much to be desired ... Although I personally did not experience any inconvenience. Unless if you load another 40% ... In general, I put 5, but I’ll hardly use it ... Although, who knows ...
You had 5 running, holy sh*t what cpu do You have?

Great stuff, the best tape emulation you'll get for free
