Royotoms is a sampled rototoms set.
This 8 rototoms set was sampled by Roy Miller, it is tuned to play the famous "Time" song by Pink FLoyd. A reverb set of samples was created from the dry samples, using an IR impulse from the legendary EMT-140 plate reverb unit used in the original recording. Credit also goes to George Sukhishvili who had the idea and took the time to help.
- 48 mono 44.1Khz/24 bit dry samples.
- 48 stereo 44.1Khz/24 bit reverb samples.
- 3 velocity layers.
- 2 round-robin samples by layer.
You can download the dry mono samples HERE

is there Any Midi available for Pink Floyd's Time song for these Roto Toms? Thanks

AWESOME PLUGIN!! Just as described!!

This is spectacular; thank you so much for sharing. I'd love to use the sounds live with my Roland TD30 drums along with some other VSTs but wonder if there is any way to change the midi notes from the default to something different? They happen to be the same as some of the high-hat notes.
Can't get it to show up in in Studio One 6, followed install procedure, tried different directories. Mse is in folder. Any suggestions, loved the sounds i heard, just cannot get them to open up. Cheers Pete

At last, a Rototom plugin ! Great !
(5 / 5)
I cannot get this to work in Logic Pro. I had it working on my old Mac Pro (2008), and have checked, and it is in the same place as it was on that machine, but it is just not showing up. If anybody has any ideas, that would be mightily helpful. Apart from that, the samples are good, and the interface is pretty decent. I just need to do "Time" again, and I can't find any other Rototom samples anywhere (that I am prepared to part cash with, that is not over £150. I am sure I could buy a set second hand for that and make my own samples.)
Go to youtube then search for tutorials on how to download it. I had the problem earlier

You fine people. If I weren't so broke I'd be giving you donations. Thanks for yout help!

Sounds fine but needs optimization. Strained the cpu too much. Worked fine on Reaper x86 Windows 7.
Isn't recognised in Logic Pro X, any help? Installed into correct path Library>Audio>Plugins>Components.
Installed in the path you've mentioned, restarted pc and found under software instruments at Logic 10.7

Dry sample download and create a kit?

Hi all, hope you are well! Just trying these for the first time in Logic X, Mac running Catalina but the vst doesn’t work :( So I grabbed the manual samples (unless someone knows how to get the vst to work!) Anyhoo, manual samples. I have 5 Roland pads I’m triggering but there’s a bunch of roto tuned notes. Anyone know which would be the best notes to use for Pink Floyd - Time? Thanks!
Try this : https://www.imore.com/how-open-apps-anywhere-macos-catalina-and-mojave
Thanks Anon. I enabled it in security settings & can see it in plugins in Logic. But Logic says it won’t load. Do you think what you said about terminal would fix that? Thanks

Wonderful !!! .. great work Alan .. after listening to these .. just had to go see what others you've developed, many many thanx for offering these up for free :-}

This is really handy, thank you! I made this MIDI file of a bunch of tom fills, remapped to trigger these roto toms with this plugin. Hopefully it's useful for some of you to just fly some flashy roto toms fills into your tracks! (Let me know if it doesn't work!) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uom_sObFsf__jJxjna3OE8dmkkjMDMcs/view?usp=sharing
how to map in cubase or other DAW??
Any way at all to get this to work through GarageBand on an iPad? Tries the VST and the AU versions. Can't manage files to move to folders like on a mac. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why the volume on it never get saved? I mean; Every time I save/close and open again, I see the volume down! It makes me angry!
Copied the AU file in components folder of in hdd. The instrument doesn't show in logic but

Sounds great. I've always loved rototoms, and at one time had an acoustic kit with a tom rack consisting of all 7 rototom sizes, 6" - 18". This plug in emulates that set up accurately, the only thing lacking is I wish you could alter the pitches, which is one of the things that made rotos such a unique animal. Add that feature and it's a five star plug-in.

Great sounding

Mettre fichier MSE dans dossier VST.
Hello! I downloaded your Royotoms to my mac a month ago, and they are fantastic! But now I upgraded to Catalina OS and they stoped working (when starting up my Logic Pro X, it says that Royotoms "did not pass Apple AU validation". Is there any way how to fix this? THanks a lot! Cheers!! Ronin.
It didn't seem to work on macOS Catalina but I solved it like this: click Cancel (not Move to Trash), open System Preferences, click on "Security & Privacy" and "Allow Anyway".
It works!!! Thanks!!!
Brilliant!! Thank you sooooooo much.
THANK YOU, VERRY GOOOOOOOD !!!!
Hi! My daw dont see no one plug. Ableton 10, Mojave. Im download only AU files. help ? :D
Super easy, and nice sound!
AWESOME, Thank you very much :)
Hey, I'm having trouble getting these plug-ins to work. I use ableton on a mac os, and I can't seem to get ableton to recognize them when I scan. Any advice?
I couldn't get the AU to work (as Ableton doesn't officially support AU) but the VST works fine - copy the rototoms VST file into your plug-ins folder (probably Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST). Then rescan in Ableton and it will be in your VST plug-ins folder.
Hello everyone, I'm quite new about VST world...I play drum in Pink Floyd band and I need absolutely to upgrade the original Rototoms sample included in an old TD-6V module. I currently use two modules, TD-50 for drum and TD-6V only for rototoms. Could you kindly tell me how to import VST file in a Roland module? Many thanks.
OMG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! These sound fantastic! I'm very very grateful to have this!
This is awesome! Works fine in PT12 if using BlueCat Patch Works. thanks-
I too am trying to install royo toms in logic pro x. have tryed installing the component in different locations and rebooted my computer but royo toms does not show up in my logic pro x can you find a solution to this problem?
Hi mate, did you figure this out? I just did for the first time.... next for me is to map to my Roland vDrum kit, but the VST is working in Logic Pro. Move the *.component file into your library/audio/plugins/components. You need to admin to accept file. Then in Logic look at your settings - preferences, advanced and have adavnced editing checked. Id then save and restart Mac. After that, back in LPX open new project for software Instrument, make sure 'Open Library' is checked. Now on the channel strip (mine defaults to electric piani) click the instrument, go down to AU Instruments and you will see ALANVISTA folder... click rototoms and boom, up she pops. Enjoy.

Excelente!, descargando de la app el Audio Plugin Player por U$3 funciona de inmediato. Los Roto Toma del Time ;)
Hey! I'm using logic pro x and I downloaded the Mac AU version of this plugin. I've already copied the Royotoms.component folder to both of my Library folders(one being my home folder) inside Library>Audio>PlugIns>Components and I've restarted Logic many times BUT IT DOESN'T WORK!!...Please help...

This is something I've wanted ever since I got into music - especially computer produced music. It looks and sounds fantastic and works in Ableton Live perfectly! Thanks SO MUCH. :D
(5 / 5)
This is REALLY REALLY nice....thanks so much! ONE thing!!...the reverb lasts when you hold the key down ...if ... youre using a keyboard controller.

Just awemoe,, i´ll try to do something like SEPULTURA style.

FANTASTIC!!!! Absoultely awesome!

Rototoms... yessss!!! I want to build a custom acoustic drumkit using an 18-inch kick drum and a picolo snare... instead of rack toms, I want to use 8", 10", 12", and 14" rotoms for the "rack". What sizes are those rototoms there (from largest to smallest)? THIS here VST will help me tune my rotoms precisely to the pitches that I need for a live kit! Thaaaaanks!!! :-D
Per favore un aiuto: Il vst si carica con qualsiasi DAW,quando picchio sui tom suona ma se deve eseguirlo reaper o sibelius non suona. La stessa cosa mi succedeva con piano one.
Really want to get this work. Using Reaper and want to be able to trigger these sounds using a Roland TD 25. I also have Superior Drummer and Steven Slate. I'm lost on this one!!
Same here! Love the sounds but can't seem to figure out how to map them to my TD-17. Reaper DAW.
(5 / 5)
Assigned these to my Alesis Control Pad and my Mac running Logic 9. Sounds great! Next I'm going to install on my Muse Receptor. Was thinking of adding an expression pedal. Will pitch bend messages work on these?
Impressive, I love Floyds, many thanks for that!
Hi, thanks for the effort here. I am very new to Vdrums and VST - only a few months. Am i right in thinking i can use this pack in garage band, Logic Pro X or Superior drummer and map channels to my TD 30 kit / module?
Any 'made for idiots' guide out there to accompish this? I have a foot switch for my module so would want to VST from this pack intro to my module tweaked kit for the start of the song.
Hi. Has anybody got this plugin working on a Mac (OS 10.10 Pro Tools 11)?
Thanks.
Hi again, Any help with installing on a Mac with Pro Tools 11? Thanks.
(3 / 5)
Love this I swear
Hi Everybody, I'm using Pro Tools 11 on a Mac (10.10.5). I followed the install instructions and put the Royotoms folder in here: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins. But In Pro Tools I can't find it. I notice the plugin is a Royotoms.component file. Will this format even work with my spec? Does anybody have any help. From what I've heard so far, the samples sound amazingly authentic. Thanks!
Newer versions of pro tools cannot take VSTS. Lookup Bluecat's Patchwork to host VSTs in Pro Tools.
Hi & thanks for this very useful VSTi. As I wish to use this at gigs live.. at the moment I have set up a Roland TD6 midi out to a roland edirol interface. & there is a latency problem. Do you know anyway of reducing this problem... asio4all driver is one thing I've heard about.. but any other help would be appreciated.
You really should use that asio4all driver, it will help reduce latency and it's free. Or if you're ready to spend 100$, get Focusrite Solo 2nd gen and use its ASIO driver.
Thanks for your reply ALex...yes I have loaded the ASio4all driver. Latency is now acceptable... But if I play fast ( Like a drum roll ) after a few seconds the sound breaks up ( digital distortion ).I have tried different buffer & sampling rates, but can't seem to get rid of this problem, I think it is like a data overload.. if you understand what I mean... any ideas??
it still looks like latency problem, but increasing buffer size should have helped. is your pc powerful? what is the sound card? use only bit depth/sample rates supported by your card. I'd recommend using this VST under Reaper + ASIO4ALL as a sound driver. It's free and very resource-friendly digital audio workstation.
Hi & thanks Alex. The interface I am using is a roland Edirol, with the VST loaded on Cantabile 3. I can also use Cubase.
don't have any experience with any of these mentioned, so can't really comment. try Reaper with asio4all, it's free, no bloatware inside, and it's very CPU-friendly. if it keeps breaking up even in Reaper, then I give up.
I do not know how to set this up for us. I need better instructions. I use a Roland SPD-SX and want to use it to do the Time Intro with my tribute act. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Assigning drum pads to midi notes from 62 to 69 as described in Notes.txt did not work as expected?

Hi, many and many thanks for this beautiful toy!!! I love it because is very unique and sounds good! Thanks again. I have two questions around it: - why 16 stereo audio outs? - In the Reaper mixer, only the "Audio Right 1" work... I don't understand how to divide the toms to separate 8 stereo tracks. Can anyone help me?
This plugin was made using Maize sampler, this software features 16 ouputs even if the plugin use only 1... Royotom uses only the first stereo output, you can't divide the toms to other outputs...
Many thanks again, also for all your beautiful vst!

Sensational, very good, I am very grateful .... now we need the rush Octobans ... yesssss.

This is awesome. Threw the 64-bit version of this into Studio One, plugged in a malletKAT Express and now I can finally play this intro the way it was meant to be played. Thanks a lot for the effort put into this - sounds great!
Muito bom.
Sorry but it doesn't play on Mac OSX. How can I do ?.... Have you a solution,...please ? Thanks.
Did you follow the instructions in Install text file that comes with the archive?

Alan, thank you very much! Great!
Awesome, Thanks to everyone involved. Been searching for decent toto toms sounds for years. Finally got round to putting these on a sampler to use live. so far they sound good, see how they fair in a live situation. Great jobs guys :)
Hi Love your VST and are hanging out to try it !im using a vst wrapper Blue cats patch works and DDMF Metaplugin And I followed your instructions and I still get "cannot find any instruments" error what can I do ? Thanks
any help is appreciated.
If all files (and the folder...) are in their correct place it should work properly, maybe it's the wrapper's fault ? Sorry can't help more !

Awesome thank you... Toms are the weak link in my arsenal... At least, they were... I KNOW I will use these.. Mucho appreciated..
(4 / 5)
Very good.

Superb! Just what I was looking for.
Thank you! Been wanting these for years ...
My iMac is on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 still... Will this work for me? I saw no details for OS X system requirements. Anyone? Is it 64bit on OS X as well or just for windows?
10.6 minimum, so it should work for you. VST and AU for Mac are universal, so yes 32 and 64 bit depending your system.
Great sounding plugin! Definitely an enrichment for my plugin folder. It's to me a bit heavy on the cpu though, so I'll have to render the patterns, but the sound is phenomenal so I'll just work around it.
I can't use it on my Daw; it says "cannot find any instruments" What can I do ?
Copy the whole zip content in your vst folder, not only the .dll file.
Thanks! Working now; And what a great sound by the way! Excellent Vst.
(5 / 5)
Congratulations with your instrument, Alan! For these next couple of days I want to try and build Time intro with it and then I'll show you the result. I've already written a few notes and played them and I like what I hear so far. Both samples and reverb sound quite authentic. Very inspiring GUI too. Tous mes compliments!

Alan, thank you so much for creating and sharing this. I have been searchign for roto tom samples, could not find any that worked or sounded good, and gave up. This is perfect, could only be more perfect if it could be synched to the DAW host. Like your other VSTs, this is easy to use, sounds amazing. Thank you again, you rock :)
Same for me, I couldn't find a dedicated rototom virtual instrument or library, so when I saw Roy Miller's video, I had this idea to ask him to sample his set and then give the recorded samples to Alan to make a plugin. I think, the resulting instrument is great and inspiring to work with. I'm sure musicians will be pleased to find this free, great rototom VST.
@ Pick Pink - thank you so much for coming up with the idea to sample his kit, and for sharing those samples. They sound incredible and the plugin has lots of features (volume, reverb, punch, pan, etc).. just amazing, thank you again to you and Roy and Alan.
Just a quick update - still love this VST but decided to 'crank it to the max' and put it through the built in compressor in Reaper. Now they sound as loud and hard as the rototoms Bill Bruford used on the first UK album. Thank you again, Alain and Pick Pink and to Roy Miller for sharing the samples with you. LOVE IT :)
Can you explain how you got this to work n Reaper?
@Stumpypepys - sorry for the late reply, only just read your question. I didn't do anythign special, simply installed the plugin in my usual plugins folder, refreshed the plugin thing in Reaper so that it would recognize the new plugin, and set it up in a new track. I used the designated keys on my midi keyboard to get each sound, and played the keys manually to record to the midi roll.
