Alter Ego is a vocal synthesizer.
It is specially tailored for musical needs – simply type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard. It’s a true synthesizer, the sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances.
Voice banks come in various styles and licenses. Daisy is the first free bank available.

For those who want Daisy, the voice can be easily found on archive.org. I acquired it. Daisy can't do anything that Marie Ork can't, if you know how to work the settings. I use this plugin to make black metal, experimental electronic stuff, ambient, and more. It's worth getting! I will say that EmVoice sounds more human, but it's a pain to use. You have to recreate your melody right within the plugin's laggy editor. With AlterEgo, you just enter your lyrics, give it MIDI, and it does the rest. So, I have used EmVoice for easy-to-program choir type sounds and AlterEgo for actual lyrics.
Now that Daisy has died, it's a garbage plugin.

Vocaloid on a budget, used by Porter Robinson for this very reason. Mostly tweakable vocal settings, but nothing "realistic". Pronounces phonetically. The default voice banks are okay but the better ones are paid, leaving me wondering if Alter Ego was designed as a gateway plugin. Overall a polarizing piece of software.
Why did Daisy disappear?

Made a funny song with this interesting plugin + Marie Orks voicebank...
if you like to check it out on youtube -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSKpQcbwhwk
It was the result after testing out the 'Alter Ego' VSTi plugin for the first time in my DAW about one year ago (in Zynewave Podium) :DD :-) Nothing special, but quite funny... attention, the lyrics are extremely dirty, in other words; Marie Ork acts very horny on her singing performance, so only watch it, if your sense of humor is compatible with stuff like that :D) Have fun watching/listening! :-).
I'm touched by your heartwarming lyrics, they've really spoken to me.
If you the boyfriend of Marie Ork in real, I wouldn't wonder why :D Seriously, I think in each town discothecs they should play this song one time each day
Bruh the heck did I just listen to

Such a pity that the Voice Bank is not downloadable
There are two free voicebanks available on Alter Egos developer website, (Marie Ork+Bones) see here (scroll down + look on the right) ->
https://www.plogue.com/downloads.html#alterego
It's not working on 32 bit !
Yeah, dude, such a pity, if you know some alternative let me know, please.
You can use EMvoice dude. It's free and also has paid version.
Cool plugin
Does any body know how to install a voice? Or do I just render this synth as useless? The voices you download for this are not in the correct format for the synth.
There is an Alter Ego Guide to download on their official site
In the zip file of the voice you downloaded there’s a “bank.xml” file, you drag that into the program and it installs for you
The first voicesynthi for near-to-midi that I see outside of vocaloid (however vocaloid is a pluggable-voices AND sound synthesizer all-in-one).

This is great. The Daisy voicebank sounds are slightly glitchy which I like. Overall, it's much better than I was expecting. Now I can put some lo-fi style vocals on a project I've been working on. I like how each midi note triggers a separate syllable and that it has key-tracking. Very impressive. Thank you :)

Great work Plogue! As always.
It works with programmed MIDI tracks too, but the words are unclear when put over a backing track.
Sweet plugin! I would highly recommend this to all lolicore producers and vocaloid weebs
I kid, But seriously though great job :), best plugin I've used this year
