Disturbance is primarily intended for the glitching/mangling of drum loops but it can also be useful with melodic material, vocals, and pretty much anything else you want to get glitchy with.
Disturbance is similar to a slicer, but a bit different. It works by chopping up a loop into 64 equal parts (no beat detection) then sequencing their playback, and each slice in Disturbance has its own loop point.
In addition to offering several playback order options, Disturbance also offers sequenced filtering, distortion, pitch shifting, and slice length adjustment...as well as various playback randomizations, dual delays, and non-sequenced pitch shifting which can even be set to track MIDI note input - allowing you to turn anything you feed into Disturbance into a synth oscillator.
Disturbance can be used to create subtle or variations and effects, or it can dramatically warp your source material into something completely new. You can even adjust the start and end points of the sequencer to help you create odd time signature loops. Additionally, you can even turn off the clock and use your Modulation wheel (CC1) to move forwards and backwards through the loop, almost like a wavetable.

I know the manual mentions the "more folders" button, but so far I wasn't able to find my samples folder, the browser starts position in my VST folder, then I go to user/my_user/Music... Then none of the contents of my music folder show up, instead multiple drive entries like D:/ or H:/ are there... Actually more drive entries than active on my computer. Then, shortcuts to system folder show up like Program Files or Program Data, while none of these are located in my music folder. I'll try again but it's consumed a lot of my patience already. I can't even just drag and drop my wav's in there... Pity.
Just remember please that it was developed 15 years ago, in 2008, still Windows XP days. It was first a shareware product, then it was abandoned and became freeware. You can't expect it to work on modern COMPUYERS.
I want to use it but my DAW won't recognise it :( I use the latest version of Reaper 64-bit)

Oldie but goodie, works fine in VSTHost x64 (as a bridged x86 plugin).

Doesn't work! Browser unable to see more than 61 folders! When I load a wav file no playback, otherwise no play button too :D
You should have read the manual: "To hear a sample/loop you have loaded, you must send Disturbance a sustained MIDI note."
Sounds like APHEX TWIN.
Awesome work buddy. Gonna play with this for sure! Keep up the good work!

No problems with installation. Perfect for turning simple samples into industrial noise sounds for my project. Thanks!
It worked fine for me. I just extracted the file and copied it over.
Tried to copy this into my vst folder, window pops up telling me that it cannot copy without encryption. Looked in the manual and it says on the last page that it is not compatible with multi core processors. Old software. Pity. Looked like fun.
