Harlequin Preamp is a digital emulation of a preamplifier stage of the Harlequin guitar amp from Cornford Amps.
Launched in 1999 as the ultimate in recording studio tone, this versatile amp still going strong a decade on. Every single component on the signal path of the real analog circuit has been took into account and modeled in the best possible way to match the original sound, keeping an eye to CPU performances and real-time playability at the same time. Harlequin Preamp is meant to be used as a guitar preamplifier for live playing and jamming, tracking or mixing.

The sound of this plugin is amazing !!! I'm very impressed. This plugin sounds like a real guitar amp. It also has a very natural sounding distortion. This plugin is now one of the most used guitar plugins that I own.
The thing that impresses me the most is how perfect and natural the distortion sounds. I'm truly amazed. Note: Be sure to read the owner's manual before using the plugin. There is a very important thing you must know, it is very important to include a folder marked ".dll.dat" into you plugins folder along with the .dll file so that the plugin will work correctly and load when starting your DAW. The folder contains important data for the plugin to use. Side note: I do wish it would have been possible for the important data contained in the folder to be embedded directly into the dll file when created. I do not know if that is possible, I'm not a programmer. This plugin is worth getting. You will be amazed !!!! Read the user guide before using it the first time.

It's great on reaper... mid overdrive and very natural sounding.
It makes my DAW (Presonus Pro 64 Bits) crash at startup every time.
Still the case in 2020, I'm using S1 4 Pro.
Yes crashed once now not reading it, too bad
