A virtual analog with generous FM capability. The GUI is unintuitive and too big on my laptop screen. But there's quite a lot of sound design potential here, and it can be quite a characterful synth. Also supports polyphonic portamento!

Great Synth and presets can be found on KVR audio. A few good banks.

There is a newer GUI made by Asecca, files are "kinda" down... I managed to get them and uploaded all the files for GUI mod, check this mediafire link

This is free a Sylenth1... or almost :)
Ahh... IMO it's presentation kills anything good it has to offer. I play with modern DAWs and VSTs so I can write and record music, not so I can feel like some retro knob nerd from the 1970's tweaking 100 knobs to come up with next drwho sound. Too much effort, too much work if what you really want to do is lay down your tracks and your music. I guess if you had good audio engineer who likes to find new weird sounds this could work, but most VST with much less knob tweaking usually works for me.

This sounds very good for such an old softsynth. Only the GUI is a minus, but the sound is very nice.

This SYNTH is a must have, it's from the GENIALISM (now deceased) ARGURU and is still one of the best SYNTH on the music scene, but yes not easy to use when u do STRUCTURED MUSICS, but incredibly efficient when you dont do STRUCTURED MUSICS......The sounds can be incredibly unusual, no other synth than this one can give them, ARGURU made an FX too : stardust http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Stardust&id=535. MAMA MIA, a must have these 2, sounds unfindable elsewhere and high quality

synth from ARGURU the genius, excellent even if not easy to manipulate, try with ARGURU fx stardust http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Stardust&id=535 . MAMA MIA, a must have these 2, sounds unfindable elsewhere and high quality

Whats good with this, who has time to screw on this knobs for hours to get the right sound ?? It will take years to make a track !!
Limeflavour & Asseca made a good skin for it in 2009.
Shit, whish'd I'd found this 10 years ago

Just started using this despite having it in my files for a while now. I have to say I'm very impressed at what this synth can do. It's probably one of the best free synths I've used. Having 4 oscs and 2 filters presents me with way more options. On the downside, the GUI is too big for my screen and the amp envelope attack/release stages use a slope which sounds unnatural (at least to my ears).

Lacks presets, looks ugly and confusing, not my cup of tea.

I have been using this synth for YEARS! It is sooooo versatile! Leads, Pads, Basses, Drums, you can do ANYTHING with this synth almost. I love it. Thank you guys!
Seriously this is up there with the best free synths and better than some commercial synths. Great for lead sounds. lots of free presets. In the lead synth category amongst free vsti it is top 5 with prodigious, minimoque, antitranspirant and OBXD, then it drops off. Tyrell and zebralette then tal and charlatan pull up behind these.

ONE of the BEST, but now my "Outdated" dual core 2GB machine turns @ 100%

Actually surprised how good this is!

Love this. The filters are pretty versatile and it has a nice clean sound overall. I love using it for chord stabs. I actually don't mind the bland GUI, but it could use a splash of color.

Amazing classic synth! This sounds great and far from outdated, even after so many years.

Damn, this is probably the hottest free VST I've came across ever. Absolutely amazing sound quality, just the handling is a bit tricky. Be careful with some knobs, keep volume moderate ;).

See this is what i like ! Simple but so much can be done with this baby! I'll give it a well deserved 5.

I have to say, it is the best vst I've come across (I tried a lot). Yeah, the GUI can give you a hard time, but I could find out pretty quickly, what knobs did. An advice to you: Try every knob and let your vst play on playback. That is the fastest way to find out, what the knobs does. When you can't do it, you shouldn't probably download it, but instead watch a tutorial video of your composer software. Very exciting and good vst.
This is an incredible one! But is there any similar like voyager for MAC?????????
Fucking great synth, you people should maybe try it a bit more and then open your mouths, the sound is so near analog.

Unpleasant GUI, but great synth.

A very good synth... But the biggest problem is its awful large and confusing GUI (developer sadly passed away, so no more updates ever). Nolwenn bank (look for it) really shows what cool sounds this Voyager can do. You can also, at your own risk, look for alternative Assecas's mGUI skins for it and try your luck with them (limeflavour's, for example, I liked a lot). 4/5
I tried this installer for this mGUI you mentioned and it worked: http://flavoursoflime.blogspot.com/2010/06/arguru-voyager-easier-installer.html (you still need to download voyager.dll separately to make it work). With a much better GUI to program your own sounds, it's easy to notice why this is a very underated synth! Check the presets pack too, guys!

Not very exciting!
Звучит приемлемо,но вываливается оболочка синта во весь экран ПК. Действительно, сразу становится не интересно: ну что там ещё можно накрутить?
