CVPiano is a Grand Piano based on spectral morphing.
Eliminating the need for many bulky, discrete sample layers, spectral morphing technology produces continuous, spectral variation by processing only a single baseline sample velocity.
Using the baseline as a starting point, the spectral morphing filters then dynamically interpolate frequency characteristics, which can then be continuously morphed during and after musical notes are played. The result is far greater musicality with over ten times the amount of dynamic expression. Another benefit is that instruments are much smaller in memory consumption, yet with greater playability and realism.
The Piano is a KAWAI Grand Piano, 7'4", residing in Electric LarryLand Studios, Austin, TX. The piano had been recently rebuilt, and is known for it's shimmering, clear tone. It has been used on many recordings made by nine-time Grammy winning engineer, Larry Seyer.

This thing freezed my entire computer after I tried to load into the DAW. 0/10

Wonderful sound, sadly didn't work for me despite an apparently successful install. The VST never loads when I attempt to put it in. I would say it's an issue with my DAW (LMMS), but it's never had issues like this before. Unfortunate!

This is a real piano!! This piano has a kind of wire/steel sound in higher velocities! For years on, I've searched for this sound. I'm set!!

Everything works great. There are two installers in the archive. To be honest, this is too difficult. It's easier to put on «NeoPiano mini» or «One Piano» and not strain your brain. Firstly, the software is old and far from simple ... There is an additional driver in the installer that does not fit new systems ... I gave up on installing this driver. The plugin works.) I don't know, it's up to you. In retaliation for the unusual curiosity, the instrument sounds great.)

Well, lamentably it doesn't work, but i notest that when i opened this plugin the first time and suddenly shut down, a text file called ''loader.log'' appeared from nowhere inside the CVPiano folder. I searched info about this ''Qsound'' thing and turns out is a algorithm to process 3D sound, maybe that's the problem for many people here in the comments, including me. If somebody knows how to solve this let me know, because i really want to get this plugin working :-).
Well, i don't why but the i put the text in previous comment and disappeared :-(. The text i was talking about shows the next message: QSound Dbase is NOT active. Running in plugin mode.
It's a 32-bit plugin. Try running fl studio (or other DAW) on 32-bit mode. It worked for me
Hi, i just want to let you know (just in case) that eventually i got a new computer, and now the plugin works. I don't know what the problem was, but it wasn't just a 32/64-bit compatibility problem, it was something way more complex and weird than that. I think it was a problem related with the motherboard and some sound drivers that were lacking to the computer i was using back then, but i'm not sure actually. Who knows?, whatever the problem was, is gone. Cheers :-).

Can someone help me? I tried installing CVPiano on my new device and the installer tells me that I do not have enough space on my hard drive, even though I have a fresh install of Windows 10 on a 4TB Hard Disk Drive.
It also says that I have a negative amount of space on the previously mentioned HDD that totals to almost the exact amount of space on the HDD. However, I used this plug-in often on a much smaller HDD and it sounds AMAZING! I would appreciate some help though...
can you use it on fl studio?
CV-piano does not play MIDI notes with 0 duration where as Sonatina VST and standard MIDI synths play it. Is there a way to fix this problem. Other things are perfact, I had a seamless installation to Win10 and Cakewalk. Thanks in advance... Please give me a message at arsaral((AATT))yahoo.com
How do I install this as a Reaper plugin??? The "help" file has zero installation instructions.
In the directory of the main .exe file, there is a file that has the same name of the .exe, except it has a .dll extension. copy this into your VST folder, refresh your VST list, and it should be there. Good luck...
Doesnt work on windows 10 64 bit. Says i need to configurate my audio interface first, or something like that.. but all other vst instruments are working fine.
32-bit and 64-bit VST/DAW's do not play together
Reaper 64-bit does play well with 32-bit plugins...
I have Reaper and fl studio, both 64 bit and a ton of 32 bit plugins and they all work perfectly.

Perfect! Thank you!
Mine crashes when I attempt to install this Vst in Linux (Linux MInt 64 bit Cinnammon).

I tried many free piano VST plugin among the most known and called to be the best, but this one is my personal favorite : good sounding, well balanced, nothing fancy. A GOOD solid piano sounding, from low to high notes. I know it from "urthmusic" (youtuber and composer). I recommend to check his personal setting for this plugin so it sounds better : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcUeQ9NqAyw . Thanks for the share ! (the only problem is that its 32 bit)
A very good free piano ... thanks
(4 / 5)
I wish I could rate this 5 I really do. It sounds fantastic and one of the best, if not THE best free piano VST I've heard. BUT ... and this is the thing, it installs this "Syncrosoft Protection Device", I can see that in my device manager listed as an "Unknown Device" and it's messed my computer up.
No it didn't. "Syncrosoft Protection Device" is a Steinburg e-lic driver. Nothing to do with Tascam / giga
(4 / 5)
The best by far
I originally installed the CV Piano GVI powered on a Windows 7 32 bit 1.67 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo laptop using ASIO4All which later auto upgraded to Windows 10. I use it as a standalone mostly with keyboard straight into the laptop USB, no interface. The CV still works perfectly for me with no pops, clicks, or distortion but only if the wifi is turned off. I tweaked CV using the recommendations in the Youtube video by urthmusic. Sounds very much like my Kurzweil SP4-7. I really can't help if anyone is having problems except to say to fiddle with your MIDI channels, sound engine choice, buffers and sample rates.
(5 / 5)
Great One! The best free choice around the web currently slightly after Piano One by far.
(3 / 5)
One of the best sounding free VST piano instruments out there but the creators of this (Tascam) are one of the worst companies on this planet at writing software and this VST piano is very buggy. It constantly fuzzes and distorts and is of little use for recording purposes. It plays havoc with your audio drivers. I'm using an RME Baby Face (Rock Solid Reliability) and still it fuzzes. And there only being a 32 bit plug in is of little use also. If only Tascam were better at writing software.
This. The effect rack is very buggy and produces click sounds ALL THE TIME. Even demo videos from years ago exhibit the same issue.
Saying it's for Service Pack 2 or later and aborts install. While I tried to install it for SP3.
(5 / 5)
Of the free pianos here, most of which are excellent, this is my favourite. You must install it and choose the data file. If it doesn't work, wipe it completely, remove any registry traces and reinstall. This piano has a lovely tone, it sounds oh so nice! Thanks a lot Tascam. Fine, fine piano
Crashes Ableton 9 (32bit) when I try to load it: "A serious error has occurred. This application will shut down after this message box is closed. ADefaultWinSystemExceptionHandler::HandleStageOne" Odd because it worked perfectly before I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 7.
Every time i try opening it, it makes my fl studio 12 crash :( someone plz help me!!!
One of the best free VSTs out of there!
(4 / 5)
E' davvero un buon vst!! Il suono è abbastanza reale, lo utilizzero' spesso.
Hello, the software has installed fine. However, when I open the plugin in Cubase, there are no instruments loaded and the 'click to load...' field doesn't do anything. Please help!
You have to run the install program, the one ending in .exe
I would love to try this, but to have to jump through the hoops using that compatibility process? I don't think so. No VSt is worth that amount of fiddling around. Any chance this can be made compatible without all that, without downloading a bloated MS compatibility program?
I'm very new at this. My sustainer works when I don't press down the pedal but instead sustains when my foot is not pressing it. How can I solve this problem ?
Check if your pedal have a polarity switch, in CVPiano you can try to reset the midi controllers too... Hope it can help.
When I try to open it says that the audio is not detected. Please help !
There seems is a problem, after I set audio output "ASIO", it closed automatically,I don't know how to deal with it.
It doesnt work on my comp. dont know why, maybe cuz I have windows 7 or? It sounds great, it would be great to have this plug in :/
You can use VST MIDI Driver by Christopher Snowhill to use it on MIDI programs.
I have Windows 7 and didn't need to install anything in addition. Well, I don't know if the file here is the same, but the thing works for me.
It was a while ago, but I remember it being pretty straightforward to install.
That's because this is 32 bit and you're probably using windows 7- 64bit. Just download u bridge for free to bridge it to 64bit
Sorry, where can the bridge be downloaded please? I really want to use this plug in! thanks!
Don't know about u bridge but Jbridge is there: https://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/ , cheap price but not free...
There can be several reasons why it doesn't work, maybe the dinosaur syncrosoft driver, or the old vcredist package, but under win10/64 it works for me with 32-Bit installed Hosts, as Cantabile 2, Reaper (5.61, and Ableton (9.75). You can install your preferred DAW as 32-Bit in 64 Bit Windows, if the manufacturer allows it (Cubase 9 is not possible anymore). There is no need for a bridge. However, Reaper does have its own bridge built in.
The best piano vst ever
I like it. It's a good piano
Hoya, I can tell you it worked on windows 2003 for sure (32 bit) but sonar 8 couldnt see the vst, so I copied the programs vst folder over to cakewalks vst folder, worked a treat. And Thanks for making it available, sounds sweet, is for a new song I'm working on>> sad angel song.. tony :)

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS VST. Upon installation, not only did it screw up the project I poured my heart into for over a year (it will no longer open, and all the original midi notes were messed up, it also messed up EVERY OTHER VST I HAVE. i have uninstalled it and now when I tried to load ANY VST, it tells me there has been an error and the VST Bridge connection was lost. 5 minutes later my screen went funny and I had green lines across the bottom half. I couldn't do anything. Turned my computer off. Now it won't turn on. It has corrupted my windows installation. DO NOT INSTALL FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR COMPUTER.
Dude it's impossible for a vst to corrupt your windows, this is safe software and windows is protected good..
Hey guys... if u want good sound you should get Cv piano... it's cooooool

Sounds pretty great, thanks for the free gift! This will be great with my song!

Hi guys... im pretty new in this world of vst and daw programs... im using reaper daw and I follow 'COMPATIBILITY' steps suggestions to installed it and seems like it work... until I open Reaper and try to add the effect with CV PIANO and send this error: A PROBLEM CAUSED THE PROGRAM TO STOP WORKING CORRECTLY. WINDOW WILL CLOSE THE PROGRAM AND NOTIFY YOU IF A SOLUTION IS AVAILABLE. I do have days... trying to make it work and when I finally thought that it was done.. now I have this error.. if any of you guys have any idea it will be appreciated.. thanks!

Where are saved the presets with windows 8.1
I was looking for a explaination of the EDIT fonction, I found this page http://tascam.com/product/gvi/downloads/ It is not CVpiano dedicated documentation but well for GVI technologie with the same layout than CVpiano.
As TASCAM said "As of 07/01/09, Operation Support for GigaStudio / GVI products, via telephone or email, will no longer be available". And it is not an open source. I will use it (it is good) but not invest much time on it.
(2 / 5)
It is working now, but i have a big difference of volume between screen piano keyboard and USB keyboard. I verify that all the Windows settings is on maximum, asio4all has no volume settings. SomeOne have an idea? I am newbee then it can as simple as CVpiano tuning.
Sounds like it comes from your USB keyboard, try different velocity curves to get the max velocity even if you play softly. Keys on the screen play the max velocity, that's why the volume is very high.
Thank you, it was that. Then I reduce screen keybord velocity (my keyboard is a velocity sensitive key board and CVpiano take well into account).
But now I have global to low sound level.
The sound is too low due to keybooard velocity. Is there some where a manual to learn how to tune CVpiano?
In the edit tab, try different velocity curves and / or tweak the velocity range setting. Your keyboard surely have different velocity curves to choose, you should be sure that it is at least linear. Look in your keyboard manual.
My PC is on W8. The CVPiano-modeled configuration do not gives me all the possible hardware in the list for ouput. MME speaker missing. But other VST show me and can play with it.
I found a solution: first change configuration to have the good output (as long as asio is not launch I have the speaker in the list), after plug the midi keyboard (that will launch asio4all, then change configuration for the input to have the midi keyboard drive with asio4all. Since I have W8 I think to change to Linux, I already have problem with USB3 ports that doesn't want to sleep, I have to unplug USB3.
Hi thank you for this free app, I downloaded and installed, exactly as you say but when I want to open it, give an error that says: no audio interface was detected please make sure a valid audio interface is functioning properly in the system before running this virtual instrument!!!!! and don't open software, what should I do?!
Saeede, this type of software (a 'VST' instrument) is not meant to be used alone. It is a "plug-in" for a larger audio workstation, such as Ableton Live, Logic, etc. There are a few software instruments that can be used on their own - called "stand alone" but they're somewhat rare. I'd suggest trying to find a free or demo audio workstation software you can try this on. It can take a little bit to learn the ins and outs but the wealth of instruments available on a modern computer is nice.
Look at http://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm to make a standalone intrument.
Im using windows 7, try lots of ways, but still shut down right after i launch it.

I use a cheap Yamaha USB keyboard to trigger VST's, but for some reason CVPiano does not play well. Meaning touch when I play the keyboard does not coordinate all that well with the CVPiano software. Getting the right sensitivity and balance alludes me. The lower registers have to be hit harder to get anything but a really mellow piano sound, it's like there is too much sensitivity and it's uneven up and down the keyboard. Adjusting the touch-sensitivity setting on the keyboard or within the CV software doesn't help the overall problem much. At first I thought it was my keyboard, but other paid piano VST's like True Piano and Addictive Keys, as well as the free Piano One, play fine, the feel and sensitive of the keys correspond well in the triggered sounds and feel close to a real piano.

Works perfectly for Windows 7 64-bit. I'm using it with Reaper DAW. Beautiful and flawless sound, and it' free.. what more could you ask for.
I want to install to be use with LMMS and minimog. What do you advice as folder tree?
....LMMS/plugins
(4 / 5)
This is by far the best Piano VST ever. Thanks.
The regular installer worked totally fine in Windows 7.
I installed the plug in, but it doesnt do anything, there are no instruments loaded onto it or anything. Does anyone know how to add them?
(5 / 5)
Funziona, seguite istruzioni tutto ok. Con programmino microsoft. Non c'è possibilità di caricare banchi di suoni? Ho letto che ci vogliono file GVI-GIG-GSI ma non ne ho trovati free. Sapete qualcosa? ciao!
(5 / 5)
Hey - wow! This is really a great sounding GRAND PIANO! ...and the best is: it's 4free! Works great as a VST-Plug-In in my Cubase Studio 5! THANX!!!
Did have some trouble installing it, but with the "Installation-Guide" from "Compatibility" on 25th Oct 2013 got it to work. Thank you too!! :-)

Please follow these specific instructions to get CVpiano to install on anything newer than WinXP SP2...
After 2 hours of trying every way possible to install CVPiano on a WinXP system with SP3 updated, I have finally found the answer!
<br /><br />
1) UNZIP the CVPiano.zip files to your desired unzip target directory as you normally would for anything you usually like to install
<br /><br />
2) THEN MANUALLY CREATE a folder within this target folder called 'plugin'
<br /><br />
3) COPY (don't move!) all the unzipped files to this new 'plugin' folder. I know it seems silly and redundant, but please just do it!
***(Reason: it appears the GVI install script calls for certain files (eg. CVPiano-GVI-Modeled.dll) to reside in a subdirectory of the root install file location called 'plugin', but no one put them in there to begin with! I discovered this solution by looking at my previously failed install logs for CVPiano.)***
<br /><br />
Now, carefully follow these additional instructions posted on other forums...
<br /><br />
1. Download and install the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0 (from the Microsoft website)
<br /><br />
2. Start->Programs->Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0->Compatibility Administrator
<br /><br />
3. Click the "Fix" button at the top (if it is greyed out you may need to make a new custom database first and select it.
<br /><br />
4. A create new application fix wizard will appear.
<br /><br />
5. Wizard - Program Information screen: Name of application and name of vendor don't matter too much, put anything there. For program file location, browse to the GVI setup program on the CD-ROM. Click Next.
<br /><br />
6. Wizard - Compatibility Modes screen: By default "Microsoft Windows 95" will be selected. Change this to "None" and click "Next"
<br /><br />
7. Wizard - Compatibility Fixes screen: Scroll down and check the check-box next to "WinXPSP2VersionLie". Click the "Test Run" button (DO NOT CLICK NEXT).
<br /><br />
8. Test run window: Ensure the path to the program is correct (should be something like e:setup.exe). Command line can be blank. Click the OK button.
<br /><br />
9. The GVI installer will now launch and proceed quite happily thinking it is running in XP SP2.
<br /><br />
10. After the install is done You can close the "Create New Application Fix" wizard and the Compatibility Administrator tool without saving changes.
<br /><br />
That's it! It will run guaranteed! I hope this helps all you out there who gave up on trying to install this cool free piano from Tascam ~ have fun!
Thanks for that, it worked great. Shame though that this long winded procedure even needs to take place.
Didn't work one bit, it crashes on start up...
So, as you say that with ANYTHING NEWER than WinXP SP2 you would need to do THIS, it would mean the same for Windows 7 and so on? Well, I've installed this one Windows 7 and I'm relieved that I didn't have to do all that which you've described. Because I wasn't going to do all that and simply tried the installer and it straight-up works.
Thank you, you are a life-saver! Cheers, mate!
Will it also work with ACT 5.6? because it looks like ACT 5.0 isn't available anymore..
(4 / 5)
The sound is great and real. Although I really wish there was fine tuning for velocity response.
I downloaded it, put it in the plugin folder but when I run it on reaper.... I can't play it, I have to "Load" an instrument but when I click on the "Load" button, nothing happen, like no instruments were recognized by Reaper...need some help on this one please ! :p Btw I'm on windows 7.
You said you have downloaded and put "it" in the plugin-folder. But have you put the file you've downloaded there or what? Cause you have to unpack the file you download, then use the installer. Myself I have also let it install into the plugin-folder that I had already set in Reaper and it worked immediately. Once I started Reaper, it noticed the new VST, I'm glad to say.
(0 / 5)
Sorry, but it sounds so fake, I can't work with it.
You can change many aspects of the sounds to make it sound better :)
(4 / 5)
Just installed CVPiano using the included .exe installer on Win 7 x64, and it works in stand alone mode and in Reaper 4 no problem. Did get an unsigned driver scary-message from Windows... Using "ASIO 4 all" with Realteck onboard audio (EVGA). Sounds good!
(5 / 5)
Indeed one of the best, most natural pianos I have tried. Doesn't have that annoying pop sound neither that old battered granny sound. It's perfect. I prefer it over my Sampletekk Black (to be perfectly honest). Problem was I screwed around a bit with the ASIO drivers now it will only start up if I have my external soundcard plugged in, otherwise it will crash booting up.
Hello people rather than say yay I got it working and that's it. I'll tell you how to do it. You must use the install setup and when it ask about where to put the plugins you browse and direct it toward the vst plugins folder on your C drive then you can use it in fl studio. It will put the extra files you need in there. During setup you have to select the driver asio. I hope this info helps.
(4 / 5)
Thanks so much! Working here on Windows 8 + Ableton Suite 8. Love it.
(4 / 5)
Works really well on Windows 8 and Reaper. I found VST plugins in: C:Program Files (x86)TASCAMInstrumentsCVPiano-GVI-Modeled. Thank you.
(5 / 5)
Windown 7(home,premium). FL Studio 4.1(Producer edition). Channel --> Add one --> more --> select under VST plugins: CVPiano GVI-Modeled --> refresh --> Fast scan --> Go back to Add --> Select CVPiano from the list then it says FL STUDIO ENGINE LAUNCHER STOPPED WORKING. And can only close the program. It does load for second then crashes.
During installation, there is 2 folder directory : the "vst" and a "content folder" you should have both in the same folder or fl will crash.
Awesome. Works fine in Windows 7 Intela tom n450 and fl studio 9. realistic sound
(5 / 5)
Superb!.. works very well after taking some time to set it up properly. Running it with Reaper with my Novation XIO as a controller on a Win7 based lappy. Sound is very good, and certainly fit for my purposes.
(3 / 5)
Hi the sound is great but I get noises randomly, the noises are like "clap" on the woods of the piano. This noise makes me unable to use it for recording anything :(
Works great standalone on vista32 once i learnt how to turn those obtrustive sustain pedal release noises off! http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/showthread.php/56068-Found-out-how-to-kill-the-thump-noises-in-Tascam-s-CVPiano
(5 / 5)
It needs better support for LMMS, but still it's great. I'm using it anyways :D
How do you open in ableton after installing? I don't see it in the VST folder
Optiona> preferences> File Folder> Plug In Sources> Rescan
It's easy to install. it's super :) i'm happy with the piano and it's so good sound
(4 / 5)
Thank you very much for this free Piano Software!! Been pluging this piano plugin to my Laptop and Portable Keyboard and I frequently use it in our jamming. I can't believe CVPiano has an on-screen velocity control ^_^ It helped alot for my keyboard w/ no touch response. This is brilliant! Long-live CV-Piano!
(5 / 5)
It runs ok and sounds great under windows vista both standalone and as plugin in energyXt. No problems with installing nor at runtime
(5 / 5)
Defenetly the best free Piano VSTi I've ever used. I'm running FL Studio on a Windows 7 x64 computer with intigrated Realtek HD sound-card (Asio4All Enabled) and it just workes better than I'd ever imagine. BIG THUMBS UP! If you ask me, the producers could charge $500 without ANY problem for this nice pease of work! ;-)
(5 / 5)
Wow, I've tried installing this in the past on my XP and Vista systems and it's been a total crash-fest. But I just installed it on my Windows 7 (using it in Reaper) and it works like a charm. I have to agree with some of the other posters here, it's definitely the best free piano out there. I'm very happy with it.
(5 / 5)
- I have an Eeepc 900, Win XP SP3, 900MHz processor, 1G RAM : So far, so good !
- Works fine as a standalone and as a VSTi plugin in Reaper too.
- I downloaded the toolkit here (rather than the latest official microsoft version)
- Then again used the tips here, simple and clear :
- Took me a few hours to get the right latencies, but by far the best free piano vst around (ever, i think).
- My asio4all (v2.10) config :
- Audio input deactivated
- 512 for all samples (buffer and latency)
- Internal buffers : 4
- force WDM to 16 bits (or not)
- Some tweaking yet to be done as indicated in hte youtube video for exeample but...
- Thanks Tascam, vst4free, and all contributors for making it real.

Un piano profesional...con las modificaciones pertinentes(ver youtube.com)
El que dice que no lo es, es el típico que no compra Behringer, y ni siquiera ha escuchado su V-verb, por ejemplo.

You can use Windows Applicationn Compatiilty tool to install on SP3 and higher. But this crashes Reaper every time, so not worth the bother for me.
I had no problems installing as stand-alone or as VST in Sonar X1 Studio. I think it sounds very good apart from an annoying low frequency rumble as keys are released, almost like the bars moving in the piano! I cannot get rid of it, which is a shame, as otherwise it's great.
Hello Greg, after installing this VST on my computer today I can only agree with your comments regarding the low frequency noise when releasing the keys.
This low frequency rumble can be removed completely by the following steps -
Load a piano module into CVP piano, ie. "CV Piano Normal"
Click the Edit option, between 'mixer' and 'FX' towards the top right of the window
Click on the 'General' tab below Volume, Pan and Tune
Directly below this, there are two yellow indicator strips, the top one being 'velocity', and the one beneath having an accessible menu via an arrow pointing downwards.
Click on this arrow and choose each of the effect control 1 and 2 options (12 and 13 in the list) and also the effect depth 1 to 5 options (91 to 95 in the list), making sure that each of these has a value of zero in the indicator strip to the right. This is done by clicking on the small black arrows positioned on either side of the yellow strip and moving the arrows to the left.
This removed the low frequency noise for me so it should work for you as well - I hope it does as the noise does ruin an otherwise good quality piano vst.
Kind regards, Luke
Which software options are these, mixcraft 5.2, fl studio10 ??
Hello. The options mentioned previously are for the stand-alone programme, I haven't got CVP piano installed as a VST instrument so I'm not sure about that. I hope this helps, Luke.
Speaking of installing this as a VST... How would I go about doing that? For LMMS? I'm just a newbie with these music synthesizer programs so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing.
(4 / 5)
I thought this was pretty decent. Haven't tried it with a pedal yet. Good for the money. Anyone managed to update it? I tried running the GVI updates from the Tascam website, and it said there was no GVI installed.
(4 / 5)
Wonderful free piano. Thank you very much. I cannot complain about something that someone has spent so much time on and then given it away for free but I noticed a few niggles. No 'Help' on where to put the .dll file - [in the VST folder on Cubase] & the video & instructions are a bit brief but .... it's relatively easy to work the thing out. Thank you very much Tascam team.
Took me 3 hours to get it setup with sonar x1 just to play a sound and export the sound as an MP3. No wonder people abandoned the software. HOW? make an new file, load CVpiano vst, test in piano roll view ensure there is sound. Copy and paste midi into the file created you cannot insert CVpiano vst into a file that already have midi on it. When export mp3 ensure notes from all tracks are fully selected and export. There may be other ways to make it work but this is my way.
Once pass the frustration sound is excellent almost comparable with truepiano ($180) but crackling sound at max volume. Since it was a professionally developed free software can't really beat it with other free vst. Now I need to tweak it going to watch youtube.
Tweak it as described in the youtube video (see the comment on this page made on 28 August 2011 for the URL) and it sounds freaking phenomenal, very playable, great bottom end, I have a few hundred dollars worth of piano vstis and this one is just about the best I've heard. Can't belive it's free.
(4 / 5)
Very nice, having some problems yet with setting velocity but
after I tweaked it according to this guy works very well.

The program itself works very well, but am I missing something? I think it kind of sounds like a cheap 8 bit casio keyboard, straight out of the shoot. Does anyone have some setup tips? Or are my expectations too high?
There is a fix for the sp3 using Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0. Check it out the steps in the links below: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3200795

The best free Piano VST as of yet. Of course, no match for the commercial True Piano, Alicia's Keys, The Grand etc... But CV Piano beats the other free alternatives, if the goal is a classical piano sound and feel. But PLEASE see some tweak guides - fx. on youtube! The default settings stinks and there's no presets when you install it. I run my CV Piano perfectly on a 64-bit Windows 7, having used it with Sonar, Reaper and Cubase. Works like a time, quite stable.

I personally love this piano vst I think this is the best one out there and I highly recommend this piano vst. One of the best free piano vst I ever used! Well done job to the developer!
No es lo mejor que hay pero me sirve exelente para lo que necesito. debe mejorarse los ambientes
I have installed it into Cubase SL and without tweaking anything yet, it sounds excellent, thank you so much, only one thing, how can I cut down how much resource it requires? it seems to be grabbing way more than its fair share of my processor and as a result of this, I'm getting audio drop outs & glitches here & there.....
not bad.but not professional
بد نبود اما حرفه اي هم نبود

Tom, what linux/wine are you using? I've tried under Ubuntu 9.10. Had to install wine 1.2 beta to get 'round some gdiplus issues. Installed wineasio ok. When installing cvpiano had to change the instrument path from Z:.... to the pseudo C drive to get it to install cleanly. When I try to run it, the gui comes up ok, but when I try to load an instrument or do anything I get memory/page fault errors.
I could change my linux distribution to match yours, so a complete description of your system would be of interest. Thanks

I had trouble installing at first then followed tips in themeforest.net and deleted the Synchrosoft folder in WinZip then I chose to unzip all the rest individually into the same folder as the main program, and it worked.
I only use Xp SP2 in my setup with no upgrades at all.
It's a very complex gadget. I think it could take me a while to get into it. Glad I found the vst4free site, thanks. :)

installed, but no sound.since so many people seem happy with it,i'm guessing that the problem is Vista (suprise, suprise).

The sound is ok! Not very good quality. But it's free, so why complain?

CVPiano is a outstanding plugin! If you run into install problems, like 181%, try installing it in "save mode". worked for me
