GR-8 is an 8 voices virtual analog synthesizer with built-in effects and an arpeggiator.
- Arpeggiator: 5 Modes (Up, Down, Alt 1, Alt 2, Random), 4 Octaves Range.
- Voice Modes: Mono, Unison (8 voices), Chord (4 stereo notes), Poly (8 voices).
- Voice Effects: Glide, Legato, Voice Detune, Voice Stereo Spread.
- Oscillators: OSC 1 (Tri, Saw, Pulse, Square), OSC 2 (Sine, Saw, Pulse, Noise).
- Oscillator Effects: Cross Modulation (FM), Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), Sync.
- Filters: Non-resonant High Pass, Resonant Low Pass (12, 18, or 24 dB/Octave).
- Modulation: Pitch Bender, Mod Wheel, LFO, 2 Envelopes.
- Effects: EQ, Distortion, Phaser, Chorus/Flanger, Delay, Reverb.
- Presets: 88.
Caution: Each preset has its own MIDI assignment. If you make a MIDI assignment you need to save the preset. Otherwise, the MIDI assignment you've made will be lost as soon you change the preset. If you want to make your own presets with the same MIDI assignments, you can do it by assigning MIDI controls to the Initial preset, saving a copy of it, and using it as a template for your sounds.

Using it in REAPER on a Macbook, sometimes the synth resets (UI turns to a black and white list of text features) and the sound also resets to default. If it happens on a track while youre working on another part of the song and you accidentally save during it, that track gets ruined and resetted to default sound. Restarting the DAW restores the UI

Synth sounds great, but I can't get the sample bank to load?

Just don't think about it, get it now.

Awesome! I love it, it sounds amazing!
I wish we coud have this synth for Linux, please devs! :P

Dear developer...it was me (Alano...see below) who wrote such a bad comment regarding the high CPU usage. Actually, I've known for many, many years that if, for example, you reset the number of polyphonies or the number of oscillators (including FXs, etc.), the CPU drops drastically. I guess I forgot that this day... I was having a bad day. I want to apologize for that and thank you for this great synth!!!
Now I can handle it well and get some great (Juno) sounds out of the vsti. So sorry Sir.
I'm not the moderator but this random comment on a free plugin website is more mature than any conversation I've seen in my years on twitter goddamn
No funciona, ya hice de todo pero ni FL Studio ni Cakewalk me lo reconocen, y eso que hice el truco de unos comentarios mas abajo y nada

This is the only vst that works wrong for me in Cakewalk by Bandlab.
It causes the program to close throwing a program lock error ca230000. I hope you can fix this in a future version, thanks.-

There's a nice patch with 65 presets free to DL : http://ohlenbostelhelge.magix.net/public/misc.htm

I just tested 1 instance of GR8 on a empty project and the CPU went up on 45%...its a joke for me...reason enough to let the synth go! Sounds just average anyway. 1.5 Stars

Muy vuena app gracias

This is a good quality plugin but I knew to expect that after their fantastic Alpha Juno emu. This developer works slow but everything is always top notch, that is not always the case. Hard on CPU but sometimes that's the downside of quality.

I just can't believe it. This is a very good plugin. Everything is there. I usually don't like built-in effects, but they are set in a separate tab with effects. And there's another good thing - an arpeggiator that I would also use for bass parts, although not like in the Roland TB 303, but I found a good arpeggiator. I am satisfied and it suits me

I am completely blown away by this VST. A must have... and it's free. Unbeatable. Probably one of the best VSTs on this site.

I installed it on Reaper, tried different presets, turned the knobs. A really very good analog synthesizer. Decent, high-quality sound. I enjoyed it. Thank you to the developers!
It doesn't show up in VST list of multiple DAWs. I've put the folders in the default recommended locations, as well as a few other ones, but nothing works. Not in C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3 or C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesVST3 or in my global VST folder where I keep everything. Tried putting Phuturetone inside GR-8 main folder just in case, didn't work either. Put it in main VST folder next to GR-8, didn't work. I've never had a problem installing a VST before.
That's odd. The plugin is x64, the presets folder goes in documents /vst3 presets and must be placed there so the synth can find them. Try changing the .vst3 to .dll. It works for this one. Then put the .dll in the vst x64 DAW location.
Thanks for the tip Alterboy Sounds. Renaming the file worked for me.

Very nice. Obviously inspired by Korg Minilogue or Prolog.

Holy guacamoly! I'd expect to find something this smashing in the good ol' Stagelight store, and surely not for free.

Absolutely awesome synth. Not your average freeware synth, this one RULES. Expect mainly electro presets. The first two releases used to eat a lot of CPU, but this has been fixed in the third release.

Outstanding little synth... Love the analogue sound...

Eats Cpu! but sounds ok
CPU usage has been fixed now, check the latest update.
Not wanting to work for me, I keep getting "Initialize Error" I am using Cakewalk by Bandlabs, don't know if that's what is causing the conflict!!

Finest sound, Thanks
So bad, there's no vst2 version.
just rename it to GR-8.dll

Crazy new synth, extremely powerful & thick, clean sounding.

One of the best free synth of 2021 in my humble opinion; great sound, great GUI, as good as some paying synth.

Extremely heavy on CPU, I wish they would fix it. Delay effect also has bad clicking problems. Great synth otherwise, I'd love to use it.

Yeah i voted... It was one of my choices to KVR 2021. However...it still needs some improvements: -Problems with pitch -Noise artifacts. I am already using v1.0.1. My DAW is the last version of Cakewalk.

Top quality synth with a great sound.

High CPU usage, sound is pretty nice, lfo's and envelopes doesn't feel to be sharp enough.
Hopefully less than Diva. Diva is the ultimate CPU eater. I need to at list double my CPU power for just one patch. Compare to Massive is close to ten times more CPU hungrier.
