Yumbu is wav / mp3 slot driven drum sampler.

Yumbu uses 10 (.wav, mp3) file sample slots to build 10 drum components drum-kits. According to this approach, every slot can be anything, from kicks to snares or cymbals or you name it. Each slot is triggered by its own unique MIDI note which noted on its slot button. For instance, slot 48 is triggered by note number 48 in the MIDI keyboard (c2). The samples menu is divided into 14 categories, including a wide range of drum-kit components types.

Each type button (kicks, snares, claps, etc.) is directing to it's own sample library folder which located at "C:UsersyournameDocumentsFananteamYumbuUSER". Once you press on any type button, you get the list of the samples you can choose from. Each sample slot has also a room for 150 user's imported samples which can be added manually to the "user" folder. Yumbu comes with 30 full drum-kits to start with.

Yumbu has a built-in mixer that allows you to tweak any sample separately. You can use the EQ, change the pitch, add a random pitch manipulation to every sample, pan and you can use our pitch based round robin effect which has a wide control ability on the final sound.

The mixer is also armed with 3 master effects (compressor, reverb, delay) with a brand new unique effect called "F.R" which allows full scale frequency control over the wet signal. You can use the effect by sending a fx amount from the "master fx" knob on every channel or you can override the per cell sending and just send them directly to the master effect.

Yumbu loads drumkits extremely fast, only 0.5 sec for full loading, and uses a "one button press" preset manager which allows a super-fast presets switching by MIDI assignable buttons. It can set "sample start and "sample end" points with MIDI assignable knobs and it also allows you to tweak the active keyboard's octaves starting points. Yumbu uses 24 presets drumkit banks. Each preset represents a full drumkit containing all the components and settings.

All plug-ins by this developer are difficult to use, take a really long time to instantiate and are very 2-core CPU intensive. (Blame it on Flowstone.) I couldn't use Monica at all. I have the other two Yumbus but this first one is the best. It took me a while to track down the setting to set the GUI as small as possible because I don't have a very large TV screen and I won't give up the USD required for one. I had trouble using this even on Windows10. The only difference pretty much on Linux with Wine is the pictures don't display for the preset names and for the sound categories. Just click to select presets, categories and sounds, doesn't get easier. I don't like reverb routed *after* compressor and global so that even kick drums are affected. Otherwise, great sounds for dance music as well as for experimental soundscapes, and the user could add his/her own if he/she wishes. If this were more automatable and if the round-robin were more usable this would be hard to beat for free.

The features sounds good and it maybe a good plugin, but the GUI is plain ugly, not only the colors but really everything about it: the fonts, buttons, the proportions, no style at all. I'll give it 3 stars to keep it neutral because it's just a critic about the looks, and because it's free after all.

Still a beta. When switching slots the previous slot number is again repeated in the next slot and does not maintain what it was previously. Also when reopening a project the selected preset does not again come up. Needs more work for it to be more usable.

I have a screen resolution issue with it. When it opens the bottom third of the interface is off the bottom of the screen. I can't see a way to resize, so it is unusable for me.

What DAW are you using? The most of the DAWs open the plugins in its own window (or something like that). You can stretch o contract that window, then you can scroll to the bottom.

Mulab. Other VSTs I use that can be resized tend to open small and have something that indicates they can be resized in the bottom right hand corner. Yumbu may have the same but I can't get to the bottom right hand corner. I can move it around a little but none of the edges or corners that I can access allow resizing. Maybe if it was a menu option?

Seems to be fixed by the developers. Looks like They read our comments LOL. They moved the GUI menu buttons to the top, so now you can adjust it. They also fixed other GUI issues so the plugin is now a real killer!

The fastest performance I've ever saw for a sampler. Great for live jams. The sound is great as well as the built in effects. The only drawback is you can't switch interface's colors. The creamy green is so ugly. Overall great freebie.

Sounds good. I like it, except the gui colors. Sorry I feel lost with florecent colours.
