Rare is a vintage Pultec tube EQ emulation.
Rare signature for low end from past. Simply run your all mix or single tracks with magic! Shining highs, burning tubes. True Component & Circuit Modeling
Re-drawing and designing original circuit carefully and emulated original fingerprint of gear with our technology. Carefully designed transformers and tubes. Fully emulated tube program eq.
Totally clean output rom -12 dB to 12 dB. Emulating nothing! Added after tube gain stage and output transformer.

It's a great plugin. It sounds good. The Low Frequency Boost button values do not match. If you place the button at value 2 on the graph. The value displayed in the white box is 0.9. The true result seems to correspond to the value in the white box and not the graphic value pointed to by the button.

The plugin is broken, it makes a very loud peak at about 17-20khz when used that makes it unlistenable, it also clips the sound. I use Rare SE instead of this, basically the same but it is also mid/side, left/right, I don't really think they are that much different.

I'll donate few bucks soon, so humble to give free, much respect

I really like the AO plugins, and I wanted to give this one a shot to do the Pultec trick. For some reason though this plugin also causes an absolute peak somehwere at +20kHz with the Atten. Select at 20 and ceases working at all for both of the other options (on Reaper). Hope this will be fixed some time.
You probably boosted too much and triggered Reaper's auto mute. It saved your speakers and possibly your hearing. Not an issue with the plugin.

I was going to buy the waves pultec but found this before I did and i'ts actually not that bad, this changed my opinion of analog obsession, before I thought that their plugins were bad, but they really popped off with one

Believe it or not, I was looking for something that would give my tunes that mid high ear piercing edge pro mastered tracks usually have and this worked.

Bump each knob and it adds crazy depth to a master
Analog Obession puts a smile on my face all the time... Very settle Plugins but once bypassed you def can tell you need their plugin turned back on. Can't wait until they make that new Tape saturator the one where you see the tracks spinning ? Going to be epic
Holy moly! I used this plugin in a mastering process (not professional at all, i am just a hobby musician) to add some lows and highs. This was the second time I used the plugin. I was just trying out a more or less random setting to see what it does cause till this day I didn't quiet understand what each knob exactly does (now I know). I pushed the bypass button and WOW! The difference was astounding. With Rare enabled the mix sounded so much clearer and got a nice fundament in the lows.

It's not bad but for a free Pultec EQ I'd go with Pushtec. The high is very harsh and the low seems to be introducing some smearing in the low-mids.

If used gently it works great

Rare "emulates nothing", but can be used for the famous "Pultec trick" (i.e. boosting the lows and then attenuating them to clean up the low end of the mix).
You just said it emulates nothing then said "it does the pultec trick?" It emulates a Pultec obviously....
He put quotations there because he's quoting the bio which states "Emulating nothing". Evrybody knows this is a pultec clone but most of us are lost in translation on what "emulating nothing" was intended to mean in the bio.
