Monica is a dual-layered monophonic synth with 2 completely different aggressive and incredibly high dynamic range oscillators.
The first oscillator is wavetable based with 64 wavetables + additional 64 wavtables for morphing.
The second is 32-bit top quality and well shaped waveform oscillators that emulates the 90' type monophonic synths.
The oscillators work on dual-layered basis and have each own separate controls, synthesis section and trance-gate type built-in arpeggiator. Monica also shares features with our other product line synths including 2 different MIDI velocity options, a user friendly global hipass-lopass filter, full section of built in effects (saturation, chorus, phaser, tremolo, reverb and delay), telescopic microtuner and a mod wheel control manager.

Version 3 just came out today. Any idea where version 2 is?
Seems like ver. 2 was Monica Evo which substituted ver. 1
Shame it's not a free synth. There is a registration fee after 30 days. Do read the license on this one.

Some nasty reviews here. First, it does opens with vsthost. Other than that, it does exactly whats it promises: "emulates the 90' type monophonic synths" and it does it pretty well considering it's actually free. It has incredible sounding oscillators, though "dama" oscillator isn't matching the genre. The ui is neat and the extra folder are needed for organizing any related information under same roof. Anyway, the "microtuner" is actually "arabic scale" mechanism. The developers should have made their homework. Overall - Great synth!! for free!!!

Kinda so-so. Would be a fun synth for a little kid. Has some good sounds, but is hard to use for anything more than the basics. Has a section called "microtuning" that does not allow importing of microtonal scale files. Instead it allows you to hand tune each note of the octave, which only about half even works, and ends up just sounding drunk. Worst is this synth includes a useless EXE file in addition to the DLL. Just use the DLL. The EXE just installs 3 empty folders for presets (presets not included), and doesn't tell you where it installed them. FYI, it installs them in /fananteam/monica/ I don't usually give bad reviews, but this could easily have been done much better, with even LESS effort on the part of the dev. Seems just into kitchy stuff involving GUI over the underline sound or usefulness.
