This has a surprisingly good amount of options and a pretty authentic sound. If you're looking for an affordable (free) Sitar, you can't go wrong here.

I have been trying to use this with REAPER and I have it showing up, I have even used it to record some tracks. However, the tracks and the plug-in seem to be pretty unstable. It can suddenly stop working or crash REAPER. Worst is not crashing REAPER but "disabling" all MIDI tracks (tracks which have been recorded with other plug-ins) where no sound is being played from those tracks. Has anyone come across this issue? Is it because I am using this 32-bit plug-in with 64-bit REAPER? I know someone has mentioned that REAPER should work with 32-bit plug-ins, however, there is obviously a conflict with this particular plug-in. I might have to try converting it to a 64-bit plug-in and see if that makes any difference.
It's not showing up in Ableton. I have the plugin in the correct folder as all the rest and re-started and re-scanned. But it's not there. Any suggestions?
I'm facing the same issue. Not working in Ableton 11.

Works really well. Thank you.

I was surprised by how it real it sounds, excellent.
Does this work in Studio One version 5?

Excellent... Loving it... It's quite difficult getting Indian plugins without viruses or money. We have to choose either payment or virus. Thank you so much.

It works fine on my 64-bit computer. it's good

It doesn't work for 64 bit reaper. I downloaded JBridge to convert the program to 64-bit and it still doesn't work
Reaper does support 32 bit plugins, no need to convert. It may not not be showing up because you need to do another scan, or a flush cache and then a scan. Make sure you have the plugin in the path that Reaper uses in its preferences - Preferences/VST/Re-Scan
Got it working under Cubase 10 with latest version of JBridge. Just convert it as 64 Bit into a separate target folder and don't forget to manually copy the .dat- and .sep-files there. Great plugin by the way.

Best free Sitar out there. I don't have any problem with it on Reaper. I have it on my VST folder and it gets loaded when Reaper starts, I add a new virtual instrument track and search for "Syntar". The only thing I don't like from it is that it has too much high end, you'd have to do a lowpass (or high cut, as you want to call it) for it to sound better, and maybe boost around 300Hz for it to have more body. Other than that, pretty cool indeed! :D

Basically it spikes immediately to +110db and then automutes the Reaper track, every single time. It might work on other DAWs, but I have had no luck
I'm with you. On Cakewalk it overdrives the db and distorts. I can pull down my volume pots and it's better, but, sadly, not usable. Dunno why it's overdriving the volume. Too bad. What I hear when not terribly distorted sounds good.

Excellent sounding sitar, that has a lot of knobs that can tweek the sound from very realistic to less realistic but ultra psychedelic. I really like it ! Would benefit from a x64 update.

Perfect
It appears in reaper but when enabled it's like it is completely bypassed, has no effect at all
I install the VST, but does not show in Reaper for me to add to a channel. Thanks for help.
Did you try re-scanning the VST plugins in preferences? Are you sure you put the dll in the right folder?

It appears as Syntar so if you look for "Sitar" you won't see it
Thanks Hoff and Bud for your comments. My question and your comments were more than an year ago. I did a flush cache and then a scan today and it works now.
Excellent Sitar VST. Can the pitch bend amount be adjusted ?

Best Sitar VST EVER!!!!
Doesn't work. I get a dehaupt error. All files were installed correctly.
Had the same error. Start your DAW (mine is Jeskola BUZZ) once as administrator and then load the Sytar once. A folder appears. Close DAW and start normal.

The most realistic sitar from all free vst's. Thank you, very much!
Very Nice sound, I really like it, thank you so much.
Very nice! Good work!
Even better than the real thing.
In sonar, I have to record the audio track and then copy it into the syntar instrument track. Is it possible to insert syntar into the audio track as a plugin effect rather than as a separate instrument. Btw, awesome programming.

Excellent work, and one of my most frequently-used VSTs. Worked on Reaper for me with zero issues. Well done!

Impressive sounds, easy to install on Magix Studio Samplitude 16, needs to practice it for a western musician ;)
Wow... I came here to search for a sitar VSTi plugin and boom - there it was on the FRONT PAGE AS A RANDOM PICK! Must be some kind of old Indian magic. I'll definately give it a try. At least the YouTube demos sound quite promising. :)
Hi, not able to load with magix music maker 2015 permium... Error saying cannot load SE plugin, if that makes any sense... Is there something I'm doing wrong... Thanks for everything, great site...
buena vibra!
Sounds really really good! Cant wait to use it!! Thanks!!

A very nice sounding instrument and only 1.34Mb.

Was great, until it started making horrible digital crackling noises and seemingly caused Cubase to crash/do weird things, multiple times...?
I've put all the files into my VST folder and I can open the plugin in Reaper but I get no sound!
Try setting the midi channel on your notes to 1
One of the best free VST's out there, super good.

This is brilliant. It actually opens up so many sonic possibilities, keep up the fantastic work.
For the pitch bend problem, you can resample it and put it in a sampler and activate portamento/slide.
Could you possibly write instructions on how to do this. I would greatly appreciate it.

Works great with Reaper, fantastic, Fits pertfectly in my mix. Thumbs up, Great Stuff and FREE.

Fantastic! Used it in a trap song. And in a crunk song. Absolutely perfect.

A Great Plugin - authentic sound - that too for free !! Hats off to the developer. Thanks a ton.

This is wonderful! As a Sitar player I know what I'm talking about!
The only thing that I don't like is the hypersensitivity on the pitch bend. This should be adjustable. But thank you so much 4 sharing!
It does not seem possible to get anythig near a realistic sitar bending of notes on this vst, it's a nice sound to fool around with, but for doing a indian sitar sounding piece it falls short due to the faulty pitch bend!

Works fine on Cubase 5 just drop all the files in to VST folder not only the dll and it works perfect without any problems. Good work! Thanx!!!

Works fine on Cubase5 (for me). A bit synthetic but it's free and I used in in one intro with good success. Cheers!

Nossa, finalmente encontrei! É muito bom! Vai me ser muito til, muito obrigado!
Sounds nice, but.. (hey, developers..!!) .. how can someone make such a nice VST and "forget" about it's tuning ??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shruti_%28music%29
The only decent sitar out there. However I do quite like the sitar in dsk indian dreamz.
Everytime I load this into FL it either freezes or wont play. Any remedy to this?
Even I drop all files (quicksine.sep, softdist.sep, syntar.dat, syntar.dll) they take no effect, maybe Syntar doesn't fit with FLS, I uninstall 'em...
It works just perfectly fine in FL for me. And I must say I'm impressed, wouldn't expect this kind of realistic sound from a non-sample based VST.
Now someone just have to make a Sitar Drone VST!
I was searching for a looooong time a plugin like this. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. It is brilliant indeed!
This is BRILLIANT!

This virtual instrument sounds more realistic than a lot of synths I have tried for sitar sounds.

Real VST, ya know what i'm sayin, geah!

A very relistic sitar!
It says it cant find syntar.DAT
Copy ALL files in your vst folder, including that syntar.DAT

Wow thanks, before I found this, I was using this increasingly glitchy DSK vst that kept crashing! This saved one of my tracks!

Sounds very authentic. Good work!

Buy kerm haeglis for decent sitar sounds, or get this one for free und save some bucks...not bad at all, very convincing in the right mix!
Kerm haeglis?? I'm confused. Google doesn't reveal anything... Can you offer some more information on this?
