I've put this on almost all of my vocal tracks over the last couple years. One of many great hardware emulations by Analog Obsession.

I wasn't impressed with this one. Sometimes flubby and loose. Sometimes thin. Always lacking in character. CPU usage is above average.
I'd try it again, I've tried probably about a hundred preamp and eq plug ins and hardware over the years, and this is one of my absolute favorites. You've really gotta know how to use it, but when you do it's magic. There's two tricks to it... for the preamp, you wanna go up in db until it starts to clip and fizz out, then go back one or two clicks(stepped). That'll give you just the right punch wirhout a bunch of distortion, just a slight edge you can hear on things like vocals and the top end of a snare. Then the eq sounds thick and lovely as well, the trick there is you have to adjust the amount of bass or treble you want to add, then you use the "attenuate" knob and match that adjustment exactly. and when you do, poof! the goodness happens. You can also use the other attenuate knob on the preamp side to fine tune the gain into it post eq. It's simple, but effective. Doesn't overly color your sound, just rounds it out in a nice way. If you start with crap, you're not gonna like this. Anyway, hope this short instruction helps other users to acheive the same results I'm so happy with. Any other recommendations are totes welcome too _)

This plugin is simply outstanding. As far as preamps go for recording microphones, it is efficient, easy to use and sounds great. This is simply better than many paid products. I think I will support the developer on patreon.

Instantly improves vocals with colour/saturation. Gentle subtle... tasty. Another quality vst from analogue obsession.

Amazing, thanks!

Wasn't able to drive it hard enough to overdive my signal. Maybe i's not meant to drive to distortion, not sure but that's what I was after.
Mic-pre amps aren't meant to have that overdriven-in-your-face kind of distortion.

I love it! So real, so alive, so analog, so pleasant... It is incredible what talented software engineers can do these days in digital domain. Thank you Analog Obsession for sharing your magic!

Excellent vocal pre amp. Loads of tweaks to improve the signal from your mic. Has both cut and boost (also used on compressors such as Pulteq), which when used together can give a very pleasing effect on the mid low freq band. Download this, you'll need it at some point. Thank you AO!
