Riviera is a hybrid algorithmic-convolution reverb.
It is suited for modeling specular acoustic reflections in N-dimensional orthotopes. e.g. string, plate, room, tesseract, and up (vooms or volume+room for short).
Normally, direct computations in these spaces are expensive but some clever maths reduced the asymptotic costs to the point of practical use (e.g. a Reverb plugin). Parameterizing these spaces and then combining them with some fast time-varying frequency decay resulted in some interesting sounding impulse responses (IRs).

- Low-latency, low CPU usage convolution.
- Multi-threading support for modeling IRs in the background.
- Fine-grain controls for parameterizing each voom's number of dimensions, size, offset from sound-source origin, and material reflection dB loss.
- Time manipulation controls for delay, stretch, and linearity (RT60 ranges from 1 - 20 seconds!).
- Fast frequency-dependent time-decay functions.
- Pan / stereo / mix (wet/dry) controls.
- Graphical user interface for displaying IR and spectrogram.

At last a Reverse Reverb ! Nice sound. The knobs are difficult, a challenge. Have to read a manual if there is one. I think I use it for the reverse sound in the first place.

Sounds pretty good. The other comments are on point. Metallic tone (but still sounds cool). Ugly GUI. Ridiculously complicated and confusing interface. A reverb this complex should really have presets. This thing is like making an FM synth without presets. CPU usage seems strangely erratic.

I highly recommend it for GrandPianos if you want to make the sound is located far away in a concert hall. This is completely different from ordinary reverbs that opens a space infinitely, but the piano still sits in front of you. With Riviera you sit in the last row of the audiens, which sound lush and dreamy. The GUI is bad and not responsive
The new versions are excellent now. Yes, it´s true: you have to learn how it´s work for you. And if it´s too complicated, so please try a different VST. There are many alternatives - also for "instant sucess". Thanks to "nonnaci" for programming a royalty free plugin!

Don't buy in the latest comments – this plugin is average at its best. The sound is very cold, harsh and terribly digital (though, it can be useful for booming effects). Also, it is slow – changing presets and tweaking take some time to be computed.
I absolutely disagree with you. Riviera sounds brilliant.
Nonsense, Andrei. You probably don't like Riviera because it is a more complicated reverb than others. It sounds really good and is a rather special hybrid reverb.

Excellent sounding reverb. I would like to see more reverbs or spatial effects from NuSpace Audio. <3

Excellent sounding reverb! Very spacious and versatile, once you get used to it. As soon as you learn how it works, the big fun begins. This Riviera freebie is a very special and a very dimensional reverb! Try it!
Yes, it's true, Riviera sounds awesome. I really don't get all the hate here. Maybe the early versions sounded bad, but the latest version of Riviera sounds brilliant. People, just try the newest version (1.3.1a) of Riviera, it sounds truly amazing!! I hope there will be more free reverbs from NuSpace Audio!! <3

This sounds freaking amazing! It has a special sound, like no other reverb! I would love to see more free reverbs/ambience generators from NuSpace Audio! A free delay/echo from NuSpace Audio would also be awesome for sure! The latest version is stable, mature and is working normally, so go get it as soon as possible, this free reverb is high quality stuff!! <3
The latest version of the awesome Riviera, which is version 1.3.1a, is functioning without a problem and sounds brilliant. Try it now!
Yeah, the latest version of Riviera sounds wonderful! People really need to try the latest version of Riviera because it is an excellent reverberation effect! It can compete with the best commercial reverb plugins!

After a longer time I gave the 1.3 version a run and I´m so impressed of the highly improved sound (and the good GUI- size). I´ve tried it on rock- drums with a medium setting and the result was a lush and hyperrealstic "drum- in- a real room- sound", perfect (not only) for postrock drumstyles.

HUGE THANKS TO PLUG MAKERS! HUGE FINGER TO CRITICS!!! Don't like this plug? make your own BeoTCHHHHHHHHH !!!
Im on mac, but i tried it on my PC and im full blown away from the sound. In my opinion the best sounding free reverb! If you understand the mechanism, you will get superb fine reverb tails. But Please a Mac vst version! Nonnaci, if you need some help in creating a new Gui ( i must admit i like the actual one :) ), dont hesitate to ask me on KVR. I made the new GUI for the Lokomotiv synth: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=457068 . I would be honoured to make a new GUi for this little jewel. Best Regards
Thanks for the GUI offer Tungee. Mac version will eventually be done once I get a local mac machine running. In the meantime, version 1.2.0 is out with new features!
Updated to v1.1.1 with a more polished UI and some performance improvements.

I donno why are you hate this plug. Because it's great. Yes, GUI looks lil bit strange and mudy, but sound is not so bad. Don't forget main thing: it's free. Thanks a lot NuSpace! I look forward to the new version!
Thanx for your comment. I respect everybody, who is developing free (vst)- sofware and I really appreciate the possibilities to make great music with low or no(!) budget. My comment (here and in other topics at "vst4free") is always entended as a friendly and constructive criticism.

I respect the idea behind this plugin to make a kind of compromise between convolusion and algorithmic reverbs. But please(!) make a different version of this plug (maybe a light- version) with more "traditional" functions, a smaller GUI and an improved sound.
The updated version (1.0.3) has a smaller file size and a smaller GUI.
Ok guys. Thanks for the feedback. Didn't know metal sound was so offensive to so many ;0. I'd suggest you cut the high frequencies as much as possible or decrease the reflection coefficients to make a duller sound if that's what you're after. Also, version 1.0.1 fixed an annoying bug. Should sound cleaner.

Not a really userfriendly "You press the button we do the rest" plug. It needs some time to learn how it really works, but then it is capable to produce a wide range of different simulations. One disadvantage soundwise are tendentially too shrill, metallic sounding highs, as some others already have mentioned. Might be mathematically correct, but sonically they dont't sound good. Can be changed with different filter settings, but some high-damping control or something like this may be more userfriendly. Nevertheless I like the possibilites it offers.

Why the F*** create an VST with Shitty sound, GIANT GUI and huge file size???
Different tastes? Plus I wanted to see if the math produced an interesting result. As for the file size, it's the intel fast FFT library that's packing weight. Thought HD space was cheap these days.

Strange controls, but works for big space reverb.

Big filesize, strange GUI size, weird looking controls, I thought the big dll size will bring more sound quality, but I was wrong, it sounds so-so.
Keep, GUI terrible, permanent metallic overtone.
