Redtron SE uses samples recorded from a 1973 Mellotron M400S.
The samples have been cleaned (not too much) by removing an annoying 60Hz hum and some unwanted "clicks" and "pops" here and there.

- Nine sound types : MKII Flute, MKII 3 Violins, M400 Cello, MKII Brass, M400 Combined Choir, M400 String Section, M400 Woodwinds, M300A Violins, M300B Violin.
- No loops : like the original Mellotron, each sound is eight seconds long with, in many cases, "the bad endings".
- Exclusive "Mellotronic Click Switch" (MCS).
- Layer (two sounds A & B) and split possibilities (octave shift).
- Independent parameters for sound A & B.
- Full MIDI automation.
- Global Volume control.
- Global Tone control.
- Global Pitch control.

A lot of useless sounds, but found few very useful sounds. This can play very low and high notes also, which seems to be problem too many plugins. 5/5 sound with the best ones.
There's no sound coming through, when enabled and volume turned up. I'm in LMMS. Any help?
I'm also having trouble getting this one to boot in LMMS as well.

Very goooooooddddd!!!!!!!
Now found this in Cakewalk under Container. Not working though - does not load the sf2 files. Redtron 400 works ok and the SE version works in Nanohost but not in Cakewalk. Does anyone know how to fix? Thanks
Having problems with this one - Cakewalk seems to scan it but does not enter it into the list of available plugins. Other 32 bit plugins work fine.
Maybe try starting the app with administrator powers
Does Win 32 mean it won't work on Garageband?
It means that it is for windows not mac or iphone/ipad
So sad......

Fantastic plugin! How do I reset a patch? If I load e.g. Birmingham Fanfare, play with all the knobs and sliders (to ruin it), then load another patch, then load Birmingham Fanfare again, all the ruined settings remain. To reset a patch, currently I have to delete the synth then add it again. Is there a reset button someone I cannot see? I am using Cakewalk. Thanks!
Why it was detected as effect instead of instrument in cubase?

Doesn't work on Ableton
It is 32bit, you have to use JBridge to use on 64bit. Then it works fine.
Will you ever release an AAX version? I run Pro Tools on Windows 11, which is basically the only DAW where you can't get a Mellotron. I'd love to be able to use this
Yes I have seen no one made one of these in 64 bit. Stinks
Use fl studio.. Wont have to worry about 32 bit.. AAX for protools lol... Protools is a dinosaur

This honestly could compete with some of the paid mellotron plugins, it's pretty great and has like a noticeable vintage sound.
bro where the freak i need to put this folder in ?
There's not "Setup"/Install file so you have to Unzip the file and then copy + paste the "Redtron SE" folder into your VST Plugins Directory. Google whatever DAW you use and find out where the default VST Plugins Directory is. Then you might have to run a "Plugin scan" for it to show the new plugins.

OH... MY... GAWD... This plug in kicks nine kinds of ass. So fat. An absolute MUST if you do 70's style prog rock.

Mi installa il file zip ma dentro ci sono solo file SEM e non mi installa nulla, come si fa
Ce un file dll che lo devi spostare nella tua cartella vsts

The Brummie magic has been captured wonderfully on this plug in. There's even a preset called 'Birmingham Orchestra' Birmingham the city from which the Mellotron hails. Beautiful warm authentic sounds have been captured amazingly.Warmest keyboard there is This is free...it's fantastic.

I am absolutely stunned by this plugin. I've tried many Mellotron emulations (including those kinda expensive) and seriously, this one is definitely my favourite. I love these "proggy" presets. A no brainer for Genesis/King Crimson fans.

Love the mellotron and this one sounds great.
Used this since it first appeared even though I've got an old MS1 setup as a Mellotron, tend to use this plugin more often. It really does sound great. Are there any freeware developers out there who could make a passable free Ondioline emulator? People who love the Mellotron sound also downloaded.......
Ondioline is a good idea.
Spitfire audio, labs, electonique antique is an ondoline
Woow pretty good stuff. Nice (and lots of) work you've done. I succesfully entered it as 64 bit version in Ableton Live 10 using Jbridge. Nice touch is that all parameters are ready for automation. Congrats. Couldn't afford a mellotron, and this VST is much handier than the original :-)

Really amazing, converted it to 64bit to use with my setup, it is now my favorite instrument, Way better sounding than the overpriced Mellowtoon.
How did you do that?
Probably using JBridge

Amazing dude
It's very good.
Just crashes
I converted it to 64bit. It crashes once in a while yeah. So I make a melody with this and render it out as Wav and throw that Wav back in DAW. That solves that. :)
how can I convert it to 64bit? my DAW is Studio One 4
One of the best, sounds near reality! Really nice sound, i like it!!! thx you for your good work!!

Excellent Mellotron emulation, though I prefer the sound of Redtron version 1.
it wont show up in my plugins i have fl studio 12.4 and i extracted it into the generator folder but it doesnt seem to work
I think it might be because your fl studio is running in 64 bit. I am having the same issue does not appear in my ableton.
it's because it goes in the vst folder silly. not the generator folder.
Please tell me how to install
When you unrar it, you get a .dll file and a folder. Make sure to put both of these on the same folder where ALL your vst's are installed!
Thank you, Lil Pump.
Based Gutta told me to get this
me too. and ill do anything he says, kinda like he does with metro

This is a brilliant Mellotron emulator. It uses original Chamberlin era recordings and sounds fantastic. This is brilliant, honestly. Thank you Artifake.
This VST is amazing, I finally get to own a mellotron :) BTW... they also have some other versions on their page, including an version of this one that DOES have loop / no loop option... and an MKV which is a 'double M400' - King Crimson used to tour with two of these in 1973/74. It has some great presets, like the "trick of the tail" choir sound and some Rick Wakeman sounds - and King Crimson sounds, of course. Amazing VSTs from Redtron... the only "bad" thing about any of them is that you cannot load two instances (ie: one on track 01, another on track 02) at the same time. You just have to 'render' the first track then set up the second track with the VST. I cannot thank Redtron enough for making ahd sharing these Tron VSTs.. amazing stuff :)
With FL Studio 20 (32-bits) I manage to use two instances of Redtron SE but it makes the workstation a bit unstable.
Super sons , merci !!!

I had a real Mellotron but threw it out of my hotel window after trying this VSTi.
Outstanding. Hard to believe it's free. "I'm a melancholy man... that's a what I am... all the world surrounds me and...I think I understand..." (Mellotron fans will get it)

Another great on to play using LMMS and Genesis MIDI files. Includes presets for classics like Watcher of the Skies
