STS-17 featuring the Wave-Transition method for absolute unique soundscapes and textures.
A very straight userinterface with 3 "Lazy"-Buttons for randomizing different sets of parameters so programming this synthesizer is incredibly easy. The Transition method adds a stunning new dimension and motion for an evolving sound changing completely it's characteristics.
Although this is an amazingly simple structured synthesizer it gains its astounding sound from the Transition method between the oscillators. As there are even some waves like Waterflow, Rainy and Jungle the STS is also suited for ambient soundscapes or even industrial noises.

Great sound quality and a huge range of sounds. All sounds I auditioned were panning in stereo at random (maybe a setting, but GUI seems strange. I think the guy who made up these patches in a genius!
The presets with mark "VK" are mine....

Fantastic for unique soundscapes, it has 2m combinations and nearly 200m permutations before you even touch a button, truly awesome capability and tremendous sound quality
Great soundscapes
Good for ambient

I think HG-Fortune is/should be a programmer and (sound-)engineer SUPERSTAR in the VST world! I've met the name already, before about a half year ago. My home-studio used several HG-Fortune plugins in the top list for indie music and for sound games. Unfortunatelly, my whole studio had broken/interrupted, so I'm started to building a new smaller one in my room. I searched for "Ambient synth" here, and see, that the first and also a second winner on the list are HG-Fortune plugins. "What a suprise" ;) I think this plugin produces very HQ 80's (or maybe 90's) style ambient complex tones. Maybe with some creatively used effects and layering, this could be used for commercial productions too. I have financial problems, so I can't support the group (now), but I hope and wish, they will have enough money, time and spirit to continue the work, and produce more and more VST-synths!
Unfortunately the developer behind HG-fortune synths sadly passed away a couple of years ago.
so sorry to hear
Wow, that is sad news. I really loved his work and was hoping he was still creating synths. What a loss and such a great synth builder. He will be missed.

Stellar work!

Absolutely amazing. This is better than many other ambient synthesizers out there, not just because of its sound quality, but also because of the fact that it morphs a lot more than most, rather than many other sounds from other synthesizers that either repeat or are just a flat tone.
It's ease of use it great as well.
But most of all, it's amazing because it's completely free! =D

This VST plugin is the best I've tried to generate Ambient textures. Congratulations to the creators. I give 5 stars ...

This sucker packs a punch, especially if you tweak it right. I was able to create an angelic chorus that matched DSK's ChoirZ (which is about 4 times the size of this one and consists of samples). Don't get me wrong, I like DSK ChoirZ; however, I am willing to bet this is less demanding of CPU processing as well as overall size.
Couldn't agree more
It's in the description, STS-17 uses waveforms (or soundfonts if you like) which is the same as samples.
