It is possible to created very good sounds with Oxe! One reason is the modulation matrix, witch allows much more than the original DX7. But there are a couple of things, who could be optimized: 1- The envelope curves are unnatural. 2- It is very difficult to adjust exact values with the mouse. 3- The filter-operator doesn't work like a filter, as one would expect. 4- The default sounds are very maverick. The creator is a good programmer, but maybe no expert musician. Nevertheless, Oxe is my favorite FM-Synth. I recommend, to create Your own awesome expressive sounds. Advice: Don't use the internal Reverb! I use Valhalla free VST, an equalizer and a stereo delay to make the sounds alive. I am no programmer, but perhaps You are. So You can try to fix these deficiencies, because the software is open source. Thanks.

Very nice tones. Sounds at least as good as dexed. Maybe better. Dexed has this warm, charming sound but it can be a bit naff sounding whereas this one often sounds big and crisp and analog. The method for navigating patches leaves a little to be desired. The poxy buttons and LCD windows on those old keyboards are not something we should admire. Also it's not clear to me that you can add external patches to this thing. It's not such a bad way to navigate the patches though, and the patches all seem quite useable. This isn't like a patch bank where everything sounds like a freaky effect that no one would use. Really high quality synth. Shame the preset situation isn't a bit stronger.
It turns out that this is another of those plugins which sometimes resets itself when you re-open your DAW. Happens for me in Tracktion Waveform free. It's a dealbreaker.

This is one of my favorite synth. I have a computer i5 2.4ghz 4gb ram Windows 10 64bit and Cakewalk sometimes hangs on a lot of weighting vst. This synth weighs little and has beautiful piano's.

This VST reminds me on Sytrus (FM Synth, the Matrix etc) and the presets are really good. If u know Sytrus this VST shouldt me a problem for u :)

Insane. This is my new go to synth. Six waves and many effects, and with the delay you can make evolving sounds easily by having each wave start at different times. And I haven't even gotten into the modulation on the side, which can control each sound in so many ways. And with individual volume controls and velocity sensitivities you really can do so much. There's a slight learning curve if you're unfamiliar with FM synthesis, but once you understand it, the interface just makes sense, better than any other synth I've tried. And FM is so flexible and powerful. And lastly, the size is so tiny and uses almost no CPU compared to other synths I've tried. I could go on and on, but really this has now become my default free synth (replacing synth1, if you're curious). Give it a try and you'll likely agree with me. ;)

Great synth but is unstable in Renoise.
