Flextron is a virtual-analog guitar amp based on a concept of the hybrid guitar distortion pedal AXP built for himself.
The prototype pedal in its turn was based on two commercial tube emulation technologies – Flexwave by Crate and Cooltron by VOX.
In addition to the fully featured 3-channel preamp and a tube saturation stage, Flextron offers a dual-mode stereo reverb (algorithmic and convolution-based), a speaker simulator with two cabinet models and an ambience control (intended mainly for practising in headphones), a switchable order oversampling and a set of visualization instruments, such as an EQ curve plot and stage bias meters. Every single control is remapped to produce linear response on a dB scale.

Sounds good plus love the "boing" or "ping" (sound character) kinda splashy spring reverb just like the real one, unlike to some spring reverb plugin included in guitar amp plugin that just sounds either a room reverb or a delay which doesn't give me that mojo that a real spring reverb does!
Scusate ma non cè`un file exe come faccio ad istallarlo? qualcuno mi puo aiutare? grazie

I have tested (for hours and hours) almost all the known amp sims and i generally don't like their sound (except for some specific cases) and compared to a real miced amb. But, this is the best sounding amp sim that exists out there. It's better from Neural DSP, S-Gear, Amplitube or anything like that (and the most crazy thing is that it is out there from 2014, i think, and completely free). For my taste, it is the only usable for a serius recording and that can stand comparing to the sound quility and frequinces response of a real miced amp. With a little adjustment here and there and some proper proccessing it can give some very descent and professonial quility sound. Great stuff. The guy that is behind this project it is very talented and knows what he is doing. It's a very pitty that did not continue it.
I agree Nick. I still come back to this for its realism, it's unparalleled to even paid sims. Incredible software.
Straight up junk. Will not work in Win 11 with Reaper. Developer hasn't updated in over a year.
Nope. I'm wrong. Still working and sounds great.

Damn, maybe best sounding amp sim I've come across. I mostly just use clean for jazz and this may has to be the best sounding one I've found. Many thanks.

This is one of the best amps for free or paid. So much flesh and substance, ... not only at hi-gain settings, even the clean sound are super fantastic. I close my eyes & play, ... I feel like I got a stack behind me. Absolut monster & in never expected a quality like this one ...

This puppy can give you guitar tones unlike you ever heard before in the digital domain. Extremely usable and unique. I tossed it against commercial emulations and on several occasions the latter sounded fake and weak in comparison. There is some "truth" here, character - hard to describe. I do not even begin mixing a grunge song without loading it on guitar tracks. Works with acoustic guitars and analog keys as well!

Cool interface but not enough gain for me
Hi Friend, when you play Metal like me, there is no Software out, wich one can simulate a Crunch Tone like you get with a Stomp Box or a Boss GT-100, i got the Positive Grid Bias Software as LE Version, that is the best i hear till now! But nevertheless, Bias will give NOT a Metal Guitar Tone "NO"! That is imposible, no Software can do that,...till now AND ON PC! But ON A IPAD with Positive Grid and Bias FX or AMP, oh my holy Lord...that is unbelivable, that must any Guitar Player hear with his own ears! This is Amazing, the Metal Guitar Tone is the BEST i ever hear fron ANY Device, it is like you stand in front of a 2x 4x12 Marshall Stack! It will Blast you away...that is a so true Sound, wow! On PC, you will get the best Results when you go with a Distortion Stomp Box in your PC and in your DAW load your Amp Sim! That is near to Positive Grid Bias FX, but NOT the same, like what you get on a iPad, the iPad Sound is "Unreachable!" Belive me that is so true Sound, Baaang ... unbeliveable true Analog Metal Tube Sound from a Stack, it is like you stand direct before the Stack...YES!!! I belive ... and it is by the Hardware of a PC... no Developer will develop a Software that Sounding "Without any FX in front of", like BIAS FX on a iPad. That will never happend! PC Hardware can't do that, i think so...the Noise Level is too high, there must be to much thrashold, that the Overdrive Sound can't get througth.... that is the truth i think so.
Sorry but you're talking out of your bottocks. In comparison to a good clean/breakout sound, it's a lot easier to get a good metal tone using software. All the best free amps (LePou,Ignite,Nick Crow,Tse) are practically metal amps. All you need to do is drive them with a TS and find a good IR (there are plenty, God's Cab is a Mesa ffs! Combining multiple cabs will help a lot. It's simply not possible for iPad to offer better sound quality than a desktop (whether mac/pc). Stop spreading nonse

Well made + top quality + try to add 1 gig extra ram for this one + thanks for making free plugs + best wishes + respect <3
Just because you can't run it doesn't mean it deserves 1 star. Get a better computer. It sounds great.

Unlike som others here I can't complain about any CPU-heavyness. Not even on a 10years old iMac running this plug under Bootcamp and Win7. Besides you can reduce CPU heavyness by changing from x16 to x4 or x1 oversampling easily. So, where's the problem? The possibilities of adjusting sound are very flexible, easy handling and nice surface. Like it.

1/5! Way too cpu heavy. Looks very snazzy though. Too bad that's all it is. Bad amp.

No way! Cpu usage on this thing is through the roof!!! 0 out of 5. Looks good but it's not practical.
Superb for recording, love it.

I like some of his other stuff better, but this is still 5 stars. I usually turn off the verb and cab, using the ignite cab sim and a convoluted reverb. very mesa with the right cab sim.

The streamlined interface makes this VST Preamp a pleasure to use. Flextron does it`s magic on other instruments as well.
