Great flute and works ok in Cakewalk apart from Articulations. The control knob doesn't respond to the mouse. Does anyone else have the same problem?
The sound is good but it's very limited, not enough range
Just add reverb

Nice! Works great in Cakewalk.
I can't get it to work in Cubase. When I load it, I get this message: "This mixer configuration expected "Ixox_flute" to have Output 1: Stereo. -> The instrument currently has Output 1: Mono, Output 2: Mono, -> The instrument will be silent." Any idea how to fix this? Thanks much for any response! -- .artemis
Interestingly, when I open this VST in REAPER, it works like dove. And I still didn't find way to set it up to work in Cubase ... grrrr ...
This is strange, but You MUST activate it thru vst instrument window (F11). click to the first free slot, find and select the ixox flute instrument. Cubase Ask You for creating new track, - and you have funcional Ixox flute ready.
The best sound in vst plgin
Great flute, but isn't support by cakewalk anymore...

The most authentic sounding flute plugin I have seen thus far. Amazing job.

You can even hear the lips sound in the end of the notes, thank you so much!

Good sound, but the articulation - at least on Mixcraft 8 - keeps changing at random. Probably a program issue with this particular VST, but still noteworthy (pun not intended).

Great flute, thanks!

I alternate a lot between this flute vst and another one but i love this one because it has kind of a breathy feel to it and the staccato/percussive modes are great.
I really like this flute VST, great sound, breathy tone, and choices for articulation if you need staccatto or percussive. The only issue I have is that sometimes, when there are a few notes close together in the midi roll, it will "hold onto" a bunch of notes instead of releasing each note and playing each note separately. It doesn't happen every time and I assume it may be a CPU / memory thing?? not sure. I am using Win7 64-bit and Reaper 64-bit. Apart from that, love this VST - it made a flute-hater start to appreciate the flute LOL

I like this flute, it sounds realistic.
I am not a fan of the flute - I can tolerate a few people playing the flute, like Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Mel Collins, Ian Anderson - I don't understand why you would use a flute when you could use a saxophone. HOWEVER - this VST made me realise why.. I was inspired to use this on a track and the flute sounds is great, totally realistic, love the breath and the metallic sounds on some longer notes. Great VSt, thank you for sharing :)

Further to my last comment, I was wrong. Articulation can be changed using automation but on the vst channel track not the midi track itself. Its a bit tricky but this plugin just got awesome.
Thanks for the automated articulation tip. I haven't tried it yet, but want to do so, soon.
I agree with Archie. Using automation to switch modes would be great. Loading it more than once crashes cubase. Shame because it's a great sounding plugin.

This is friggin incredible! Best free flute by far.Much love, T___T
It doesnt work for me. I copied the whole folder, the window comes up when i load my host, but it remains silent, no sound at all..... any thoughts?
Same here. So fuckin pissed off been trying to get this to work since a month now. Installed and uninstalled all possible versions and files. No sound.
Something I noticed was that, when I unzipped this, the folder containing the files was two or three folders deep - I wonder if THAT is causing the issue for you? Try unzipping and digging down to the level in the zip file where you see the folder named Ixox_flute and just below it you see the file "Ixox_flute.dll" and two text files. Grab that folder and the DLL file and move those to your VSt / plugin folder and try again. I had to choose "find new plugins" in my Reaper, to see and access it.
If you've installed it correctly, you might be using it wrongly. You need to put the VST/VSTi file in VeSTige (unless it's an effect, in which you use it as a normal effect)
This plugin seems to only work between octaves 4 and up!!!! I thought it wasn't making sound either but my midi keys were just too low to actually use it!!!

I'm satisfied now.

This baby was so hot that I had to use it with oven mitts on and a fire extinguisher prepped and ready to deploy in my left hand. Friggin' amazing. Blow on, flute of Ixox, blow on.
OUCH! I burned my hands and nearly burned down my house this is so hot!!

The great sounds!
Sound great. I like this sound.
It doesn't work for me when I put the .dll file in the vst folder... it says it doesn't read the Ixox_flute_2c.sf2 and the Ixox_flute_full_v0.2.sf2 :( help?
Copy the "Ixox_flute" folder along with the .dll

I love this vst.
I've used it in conjunction with DSK Virtuoso (which doesn't seem to support multiple-instances). Not nearly as good as DSK, but if you use lots of reverb you can get a passable 'flutey' kind of sound.

USE a stand alone host for tracking winds -this is something you can not track very well in midi. MIDI is code, if you over do the code work in your tracks, the application and your DAW will have dropouts... FREEZES. Something that does happen a lot in midi. So use a stand alone host to record your live playing of winds.... then add the WAV files to your track in your DAW. Flute and such should be live anyhow, not broken into code. NICE APP HERE, I love using it.

Actually, by toggling between staccato, percussive and normal notes you can get what sounds just like a real flute with this! The problem is how to do that effectively. Automation seems not to work properly in FL, and if you load more than one up (setting each one to the respective note) it seems to crash your DAW to Hell :/ Great sound, but needs either automation, or some rewriting to handle itself three times. Then I would say it's one of the best flute VSTs out there. 3 for the problems it's caused me, and an excellent reggae tune file I can no longer open.
This is why I save my midi files, wav files and so on... I also take the time to ARCHIVE and copy my midi files -duplicating them, so I have one good file and if the others get hammered... no big deal.

Additional comment: Trying to get a flute-solo out of this thing is an uphill struggle, but it's the only one I've downloaded that sounds anything like a flute, so I persevere with it. Needs some clever use of reverb and notation to get it sounding at its best. Can't believe it's so old - it could've been seriously tweaked and revamped by now, but I'm still giving 4/5 for being such a useful, free download.
