A truly superb VST that really is better most payed virtual instruments. It has a beautiful and very realistic timbre and the vibrato that varies throughout a single note gives the instrument a lot of credibility. It's got a very punchy attack, making it excellent for quick paced music, unlike many VSTs that you have to fight with to obtain a decent sounding quaver melody. The interface is simple and functional and I never felt the need to use compression to boost its volume to audible levels as I do with some bought brass VSTs. Nor have I ever felt the need to equalise it to get a decent timbre out of it. Overall a joy to work with!

Used this sax and it's lively because of the automatic expression. That can be time saving. Less automation. Verry vibrating if you do the trick -long notes with short accents to mimic lips. Merci

In my opinion, the best VST for sax. But on my Aerophone Go I can only get G in the high octave. Any solution? Thanks!!

Kinda sounds like a sax until you reach higher notes. The lack of ADSR for me makes this unusable for the most part :( which is a shame as it does have potential.

I'm gonna give it a 5/5 because it definitely sounds better than one the saxes here rated higher - and this one does sound pretty real with it's tremolo and 'expressive' function definitely. Great sounding plug, thank you!

I have used this in Cubase when it was 32 bit. However, since it became 64 bit this plugin no longer works so you’ll need to do some jiggery pokery with jbridge. Don’t ask me how this works I gave up. I have been playing with Sax on the beach which hosts various samplers. I have Halion 6 so I can just drag the .fxb or .fxp file into it and create my own VSTi. I am not going to publish because the instructions are available it’s the set and I don’t own the sounds. What is good is the set contains sopranorino sax!

I dont understand why this plugin isnt on the top of the list with best ranking... this little devil is expressive as hell and if you dont want to play long notes and Coltraneish transitions, it sounds real either with its own reverb or with slight touch of another verby plugins. Great for surf staccato solos, funky lines and much more !

I've used DVS Saxophone for about a month (submitted a small contribution). I was very impressed. Then all of the sudden it started sounding more like a piano than a sax. I did everything I could think of including a re-install. Still sounds like a piano. Any suggestions on how I can get the sax back? Thanks. ... doug

This sounds so good.. especially 4 someone like me who isn't aware of all the parameters, tweaking.. etc.. install & it's good to go..the tail end.. the way it fades out is breathtaking..& as someone who loves to download free vsts.. It's probably because FL 12 is running 64 bit and the vst runs only on 32 bit.

Hi, I try to install this VST, but Ableton doesn't recognize this plug-in.
I have ableton live 8, 32bit. Maybe it's for this reason?
This one is 32 bit, it should work in Ableton.

Ableton Live 9 can't seem to recognize this VST, and I really want to use it, but all it can recognize is massive. No other free VST's I have gotten can be identified in my directory. I'm not exactly sure if this is 32 bit or 64 bit, but I tried to bridge it to 64 bit which is what I need, but it didn't work in ableton. If anyone can help solve this problem for me I will appreciate it greatly.
It's 32 bit, if you're running 64 bit then that is more than likely the problem.

Thanks voor de Saxophone modele. When I install the VDS Saxophone in Ableton live 9 there is no reverb, "cant load Unkargherth SE Reverb". Greetings, Jaap van Woerkom.

It's a synth sound first off, so It's not gonna sound 100% real unless you wanna drop a few grand on Hollywood Brass or something. A real musician can use it to their advantage. It's free, what did you expect? That being said, This VST is extremely valuable. It doesn't sound nearly as fake as quite a few of the other ones I have tried, and frankly I think they should charge a bit for it because It is phenomenal. It is simple to use, sounds pretty good, (not quite real, but once again, what did you really expect?) and it works fine in my program.

Thank you. You have done a great job! This is the best sax soft synth sound so far! I'm running it on Win 7 using SAVIHost 8086 ver without difficult on Win 7 X64. Had to abandon Proteus VX as could not install it on Win 7.

Great mellow sound but too limited note scale.
If you want expansion on the note scale, just record some of the sounds you want to use and then reload them into a desent sampler with a wider note reach! :)

Hats off to the dear folk at Dream Vortex, the next step from this means gigabytes of samples, advanced programming and a huge-ass price tag. It's particularly good with the most basic MIDI controllers that don't have proper expression controls, the built-in automation gets the job done. Also loads fine under Wine (Linux) contrary to even some professional level VSTis.

add a bit of reverb or room effect and it sounds great. i dont like the limited range this has but that is easily overcome with a decent pitch shifter. (like the one in waves diamond bundle for example)

DVS Saxophone is the BEST sounding sax I have in my kit of VSTi's. Streight out of the box or runing it through VST EFX it's really nice. top note only goes to C# above middle C. Other than that you really can't beat it for its size....BRAVO DVS!
Really? C#5 is your max note? Mine goes all the way up to C8 or something!
