styrofoam is a lovingly rendered emulation a classic analog synth of yesteryear.
Take a nostaligic stroll in soft-focus, sepia-toned memories, when summers lasted for 16 months and you could still buy Penny Chews for a penny. Bring back the sounds of living room renditions of your favourite hits, in splendid monophonic square-wave glory with this faithful emulation, But back to that square-wave. It’s not just any old square-wave, no, it’s not just your bog-standard, ten-a-penny, digital square wave. This, ladies and gentlemen of discerning taste, is THE square-wave, the actual, real-life, carbon-copy, I-can’t-believe-a-plugin-can-be-this-analogue square-wave. Once you’ve tried it, there’s no going back to your complex, multi-waveform dreams. THIS is all you need.

- One waveform, but a mighty fine one.
- No GUI controls at all.
- 4 presets, covering the full range of cleanliness.

Well, if you want a square wave, use this. Not much control, but you can mess with other plugins if you want other stuff.

What would you expect from the stylophone? I think it can be good base for making like your own synth, you can use more vsts like reverb, ring modulation, distortion, gate etc.
Why oh WHY would ANYONE want to hear that god awful thing called the Stylophone? It was horrible, and such a limited instrument, but because David Bowie used it on two early albums, and Rolf Harris used it, people bought it and tried to like it... but it is unlikeable... horrible thing, should be outlawed.. and Bowie's albums should be remixed to remove it from Space Oddity and After All (on Man who Sold The World). Bah humbug!!
David Bowie used it in Space Oddity, sounds great.
I don´t really agree with "Hate Stylophone" but I like the honest and clear statement! Personally I hate 4-track cassette recorders and I´ve got simillar feelings and thoughts if people praise the "good" old days of 4-track homerecording. All portastudios should be outlawed! :D :D

Worked well with my "Still More Fighting" cover.
This is actually a very good synth. Not many bells and whistles but if you want to do a bit of chiptune it's not bad.

It's not useless. It's just a basic, gated, square wave synth with 4 different modes. I figured that there wouldn't be much to the VST from looking at the GUI in the images. The description was silly, but then again, there is not much to the Stylophone itself, except for maybe some glide functionality. If you're looking for a basic Stylophone emulation, here it is.

Completely long winded exaggerated full of crap description for a complete pile of worthless garbage. EPIC FAIL!
