One word: Perfection! The Zebralette get under-rated scores from other users, who apparently don't have the sense of sound exploration and sound design. The synthesizer forefathers were all about sound exploration. This gem is not complicated at all; it's all right there on one GUI. If you're not afraid of tweaking knobs and trying new things, this is another Uhe must-have in your arsenal. Period.

Pretty cool. Quite complicated. The sound reminds me a bit of Dexed but I prefer Dexed. I think it's a more charming, warm synth whereas this one is a bit too crisp or something. If you like big, edgy tones then you'll like this. Also it installs a bunch of trial software (as well as the free synth) which is annoying.

A strange synth, but pretty fun to create sounds and tweaking them in this strange way as the user interface is very good. As nearly every vst from U-HE, there is a lot of presets, and they are excellent. There is a paid version named Zebra, but this Zebralette is already a truely amaysing synth in his own right.

Really versatile for electro / trip hop / jazz / abstract dub etc. I end up loading this up when I need some inspiration, something that will sound good enough for the time being while I get some ideas hammered out. A dependable go-to-synth for starting a new track. Although many of the presets can sound a little thin, they are all tweak-able and high quality in nature. The sound is 'rich' and fully alive unlike many dead sounding digital synths.

STVRZ, this one is on a lot of short lists - i.e. the word is out. But chiming in: very rich timbre, distinctive presets, highly malleable. I was blown away by this plugin, and yet the demo of the commercial version somehow manages to top (have not purchased it yet, but if U-He wanted to distinguish themselves, this did the trick). The graphical interface is great fun. Best compliment is to say I have used it on several tracks.

One of the most interesting free synths for sure! It has good sound quality,low CPU load, very pleasant looking wodden-style GUI, detailed documentation, amazing factory presets and vast user-made preset library (https://www.u-he.com/PatchLib/zebra.html#zlette). Another important feature is it's workflow, which is differs from other synths - thanks to the spectral FX section. Yeah, maybe it is just a reduced version of U-He's commercial plugin, but hey, does it matter, if Zebralette is so awesome on its own?

10 stars. I know, I've posted my opinion all over this site, but this is the best free synth out there. It will do ANYTHING. It sounds FANTASTIC. I don't normally gush about u-he stuff because of the CPU load, but comfortably run this with other synths and vocs no problem. I cannot believe no one else has not posted on this already. I am saving up for the real ZEBRA2. The ZebraCM is also fantastic albeit not totally free (magware) and much more conventional.
