IVGI can deliver very soft and subtle saturation, that feels at home on the master buss.
It is equally capable of very dense and dirty distortion effects to spice up single tracks. IVGI gives you a sensible amount of controls to manipulate the character of the saturation itself. It offers a unique ASYM MIX knob to alter the symmetry of the signal without affecting the harmonic content much. Usually, asymmetry leads to an increase of even order harmonics. But in IVGI's case, dialing in the asymmetry makes the negative part of the signal “cleaner”. This way you can preserve the dynamic structrure of the source better and get a more transparent result. Actually, you can think of ASYM MIX as a transparency control. IVGI also lets you alter the frequency dependency of the saturation with the RESPONSE control. IVGI is internally calibrated to 0VU = -18dBFS.

It sounds like a very high-end late 1960s tube console record-player amplifier. This thing kicks serious XXX -- you can't go wrong here.

One of the classics.

Best sounding free saturation imo. But it created a bunch of frequencies in the lower midrange, even if the related soundsource was muted. Maybe a problem caused by (the lack of)oversampling? I used Version 1.

Brilliant - great for mastering

Top quality, no further questions

Another one like Voxengo Tube Amp which may have been a great option for many years but maybe doesn't hold up so well against the free stuff that's available today. Does seem to sound good on the Master Buss though. CPU usage is average for this sort of plugin.

OMG ! JUST AMAZAZING TO MAKE FABULOUS KICK !!!

It works in wonders on mastering, too! Great for vocals!

This is spectacular! Really gives a warm, lush sound to instruments, and tightens up drums!

Insanely Dank! Finally a distortion plug in that sounds good

Nice even harmonics when used gently.
TUFF!!!!

Sounds great! Where would you typically want to place this in the signal chain though?
At least it depends on your taste, but "Klanghelm" recommands this plugin for the masterbus. That means (for me): it´s best to set it in the end of an effect-chain.

I uch prefer this version to the newer one. Sounds just like tube amp but the new one gets harsher.

I can't say enough good about this plugin. I use it on almost everything. First in line on my kick, snare, OH, tom bus, and room mics to liven them up and pretend I have nice mic pre's (which I don't bc I'm programming all my drums). First in line on my vocals to add warmth and slight eq to then go into my compressor. My master buss to add warmth and slight saturation overall. Sometimes I'll throw it on a track again and crank the Response just to add some pleasantly bright clarity to it and bring it forward in the mix. If the IVGI was $40 or $50 I'd get it, but cheers to Klanghelm for making this version free <3

Just professional, incredible plugin. I have paid for this type´s plugins, but IVGI is free and better than the others, incredible, thanks and congratulation
I always liked its plugins, but today I use Linux and unfortunately do not have a version for the penguin, I hope that in the future it will leave a version for Linux
This is beautifully-designed and sounds extremely warm and cozy. Also, the flexibility with the filters makes this a great all-around saturation plugin (even works for slightly edgier distortion).

Great plugin! Can be used as a "warm" preamp (great for voice)or very interesting guitar distortion box. Uses are limited only by your imagination.
I used it here, almost on every track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ_C7ENW0jc

Good plugin! )
One of the few distortions that can actually behave and sound like analog. I use real analog preamps to distort, this comes close to one of my vintage tube preamps when driven hard - (not all analog gear distorts the same). Very good plugin, might get some getting used to, take your time.
