Drumatic VE is inspired by several sounds of the TR-909 and TR-808.
It isn't just a sample player... It uses smart wavetable synthesis mixed with virtual-analog synthesis to get the best results.

While I used it long ago on WindowsXP, required the "Drumatic VE" folder to be in the SAME DIRECTORY as the EXE file for the music app. For REAPER, on "later" Windows for example this is usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\REAPER", or without space-"(x86)" for 64-bit system. I haven't used it since I was forced to abandon the old 32-bit system, therefore I don't know if this quirk still applies. Try using it in OpenMPT 32-bit, install that app in a folder which is a child of the "user", then copy the "Drumatic VE" folder on the same level as "OpenMPT.exe", and the plug-in DLL in the folder you want where it could be found by the app. Use the 64-bit version and might crash the bridger LOL so don't try it.
"Drumatic 3" by the same author isn't as fussy but it's more difficult to have "genuine" rhythmbox sounds.
Correction: the plug-in's DLL file *ALSO* has to be in the same directory as the music app's EXE file as well as "Drumatic VE" folder with its modules inside. This sucks for a program that allows only one VST plug-in folder to scan and doesn't handle symbolic links correctly.
