Boogex is a guitar amplifier with a variety of sound shaping features.
With Boogex it is possible to get a heavy distorted sound as well as slight “jazzy” saturation sound. Boogex is also able to apply any speaker cabinet impulse response (selection of built-in impulses is available). The processing latency is close to zero making it possible to use Boogex for real-time guitar processing. Boogex also includes reverberation module derived from Voxengo OldSkoolVerb reverb.

Regardless of what other options I have in the box/my plug-in folder along with even more choices outside of the box, from freeware to very expensive, Voxengo's Boogex has been in my plug-ins folder legitimately for as long as I can remember, It's very possible that I picked the original version up many, many moons ago/as long as it has been available. It always comes in very useful, with a preamp signal chain of your choice, run it into Boogex in order to have it act as a power amp and mic'd cab processor, obviously, you have to gain-stage properly and set it to not add drive/distortion the way it is very capable of, the key is the dynamic control/response which can be controlled in order to obtain not just a guitar sound that sounds great but also one that feels right, I can't stress how important this is, a great sounding amplifier without any touch sensitivity is junk/feels wrong, that combined with the impulse loading/convolution processing to nail just the right sound(s) you are looking for is great stuff. Naturally, Boogex can be used with any overdrive pedal that suits your needs/wants also and the two pair together combine to create plenty of drive/dirt/distortion, same with any gain based pedal really, works equally well with an IC bass big muff pedal as it does with an overdrive pedal such as the Boss SD-1/SD-1 WAVA craft, Maxon OD-808 or OD9, Horizon Devices Precision Drive, TC Electronic Mojomojo, KHDK Electronics Paranormal LE Gary Holt Signature EQ/OD, Protone Pedals Blood Gary Holt Signature Boost/Drive Pedal...etc. Any distortion box you can use as though it were a preamp, in a number of cases from those in my own collection the distortion boxes are designed to be used as either a great high-gain distortion or as a preamp, such as AmpTweaker's TightMetal Pro & FatMetal Pro, Victory Amps VX4 The Kraken, Damage Control Solid-Metal & Demonizer Preamp/Distortion pedals...I could go on forever but I hope that gets my point across, not to mention using the send from any amp's FX Loop into it for the same reason, especially when an idea strikes but you have to keep noise to a minimum, therefore are working with headphones at 3 am or whatnot :) - Also it works great with a bass track which needs to be dirty, if it is to sit in the mix as a dirt ridden bass or it is being deployed as an additional layer with a clean bass guitar track laid down in order to keep the low-end chunkier,/heavier whilst still having filth on the upper mid-range in particular, often works for my needs/wants, just do the same but with whatever your flavour(s) of bass dirt come from. I've put drumkit pieces through boogex when they have needed extra harmonic content brought out, vocals naturally have been smashed through it, I really enjoy feeding it signals that are being compressed a bit by mainly VCA based compressors, my Valleypeople dynamite being a perfect example, my Drawmer 1978 and send the signal back out through another Drawmer unit in the 1976, that has yielded many useful results. Synths have been no exception, I rarely work on or with bands that use synthesizers as a main instrument, Still its added dirt and more to instruments like a Roland SH-101, Korg MS20, DSi synths, A Minimoog, Waldorf Blofeld, Yahama TX something which IIRC is am FM based synth, the sine waves getting filtered then compressed & shaped a bit then fed into/through both all-valve, analogue hardware and/or ITB options such as Voxengo's Boogex really brings out anything from some thickening to full-on vile growls, screams and other tortured sonic eruptions depending on the filter and how it is set and being abused. There have been plenty of others but as I'm not very synth literate, the wonderful noise-generating tools done dirty like described I don't know or recall the names of or the brains behind them. Voxengo's Boogex is a five-star worthy plugin and Aleksey has and continues to release excellent plug-ins, cheers all the best to all!

Now that is a review!

As "GigitoEQ" said, really, even changing the cabinet options does cool things. Great stuff.

Not just for guitars, run any synth or sample that you want some more mids or warmth out of and it will pleasantly surprise you!
Hey, downloaded this, and it didn't come with the dll in the folder, has everything else mentioned in the manual, but no actual dll for me to use. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated :)
It's an installer.

One of the best sounding amp- sims and a complete bundle to start immediatly with a cab- sim (including decent IRs) and a great reverb. Personally I prefer to enable the drive / distortion and the reverb, but I disable the cab- sim / convolver and combine this superb VST with a different free cab- sim like "NadIR" or "KefIR" and use free IRs e. g. from cartharsis or asem. Last not least: I really like the professional non- toyish GUI from "Boogex".

So much tweaking you can get out of this cabinet, and each preset is its own world!

Great Cab. Must have.... :D. Thanx Voxengo

Great product! EQ, amp, and cab all in one. Easy as hell to use and it sounds great compared to most other modelers.

Grab this one, say thanx to voxengo and save your time and nerves :) unless you want to pay $100 + + + for something similar... good luck <3
Use this everyday since it came out. I got options but I always start with boogex.
Agreed! and now it's even 2021 hahah

5 OUT OF 5!!! it's an honour to be the first to praise this plug-in. Yes, i have nothing but good things to say about boogex(which is a very groovey sounding name IMO). First off the low cpu usage is UNBELIEVABLE for such a high quality plug. Great presets, eq, drive (just enough punch without distorting too much), reverb (top notch!) and did i mention the cabinet selection? DAMN! 13 cabs with a minimum of 2 mic types/positions. But wait, theres more! You can even load up your own impulses!!! It has a cool looking specrum window that u can tweak to change the sound on. Switching it off reduces cpu load (same thing with reverb and cabs). You can even change the GUI's color. Hands down, THIS IS THE BEST AMP SIM EVER! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Thank you voxengo
