Tube Amp applies asymmetric tube triode overdrive usually found in single-tube microphone pre-amp boxes.
The sound this plug-in produces varies from a mild warm overdrive to a fuzzy distortion. Tube Amp also includes a -6 dB/oct low-pass filter that is built-in into plug-in’s valve modeling equation, and can be used to imitate a lower-quality tube triode. Beside that, Tube Amp has a switchable output saturation stage which can be used to additionally overdrive the output signal. It features all standard advanced Voxengo plug-in features like full multi-channel operation, channel routing, built-in oversampling and other functions.

Very good, BUT: I always relied on the "auto" setting for oversampling, which is supposed to apply oversampling during export. Recently I found out that it's not working in Ableton (and maybe not working in some other hosts too).
Why is this a problem? If you run your projects at lower sampling rates (eg 44.1 khz) to save CPU consumption, Free Amp can produce quite a bit of aliasing artefacts. If the auto-oversampling is not working, than these artefacts will remain within the final mix / master.
Alternatively just set the oversampling manually to 4x and save this as the default setting. 4x oversampling is sufficient to keep the high fidelity of the sound in most scenarios.
Voxengo´s Primary User Guide says: "The “Auto” oversampling option in a special option that enables oversampling when the project is being bounced (exported) to an audio file; in this mode, when the plug-
in works in real-time mode, oversampling is set to the “1x” option (some plug-ins may use “2x”). If the “Auto” option was not used then the specified oversampling amount will be used during both bouncing and in real-time. It should be noted that not allaudio host applications provide the plug-in with the required plug-in state information: in such cases the “Auto” option works as the “1x” (or “2x”) option all the time (this is the case for some older macOS audio host applications that do not report the off-line bouncing state to the plug-in). The “Auto” oversampling mode engages the “4x” oversampling mode if the working sample rate is below 72 kHz; the “2x” mode is engaged if the sample rate is below 144 kHz; otherwise, oversampling is not engaged at all (for example, if the working sample rate is equal to 176.4 kHz or 192 kHz the oversampling is not engaged). The maximum oversampling level used when the “Auto” mode is engaged can be adjusted in the global settings window. Note that when the plug-in enters the bouncing state, the “Off-Line Render” notification will be displayed on its interface. When this notification is displayed, the “Auto” oversampling option will be working correctly." Hope that helps ;)

Maybe not the best sounding and most modern tube-plugin but it shines in the mix. Easy to use. Low cpu.

Seems ok. A bit weak sounding compared to the more modern plugins but the neutral tone will be useful when other plugins get too muddy. CPU usage is erratic but not excessively high.

CPU spikes! yikes!!! takes a toll on the CPU nearly 15% more!!! need to use it carefully. Though definitely works on its application.

Voxengo... always on top!!

Great & perfect for finishing mixes toch for mastering.
I tried it as a preamp for my behringer C-3 in fl studio and it works great, gives warmth to the voice and louder signal!

All Voxengo effects are serious tools. "Tube Amp"'s never disappointed me, specially in Mid/Side mode: It becomes a powerful Mid/Side processor able applying "Drive + or -" , "Tube Biasing 0 to 100" , "Low-pass filter 20khz to 00Hz" , "Out Gain + or -" to Center signal.... and independently same stuff to Side signals. Welcome to "WarmingLand"!
