PTEq-1a is a digital emulation of a famous Vintage Program Equalizer.
It has been developed to have all the characteristics of the original hardware, plus some additional features to increase it's versatility. Every single component on the signal path of the real analog circuit has been taken into account and modeled in the best possible way to match the original sound, keeping an eye to CPU performances and real-time playability at the same time.
PTEq-1a is meant to be used as a studio equalizer for tracking, mixing and mastering inside hosts capable of VST or AU Plug-Ins support.

Works well but the top boost/cut knobs works very differently to their PTEq-X version for some strange reason. So I'm not sure which version is actually correct but do get better results with the PTEq-X
I agree with your opinion. I also can hear some differences between both pultecstyle-plugins from Ignite. And I also prefer PTEq-X because of better results.

Very nice sounded eq plugin. Very useful and goodlooking. Low CPU usage.

I just compared this to a commercial demo retailing at €124.99. It works wonders on bass guitar.

Super simple. Stays sounding analogue on the highs. Nice

If you're looking for a free Pultec-style EQ plugin, I recommend the Leftover Lasagne Pushtec 5+1A. The PTEq-1A has a very nice interface, but lacks the magical tone of the Pushtec. The PTEq-1a is better than 95% of the free EQ plugins currently available though. Definitely worth experimenting with.

I did couple of EQP1 clones. This plugin does not represent characteristics of EQP1, howover, grafic interface works OK. Plugin boosts bass badly-prabably programmers forgot that EQP1 has: input transformer, interstage transformer, interstage capacitor(between tubes). output transformer ---wich means--- 4 HP filters(6dB/oct)(also 3 LP filters (..and 0 DC offset). (transformer = HP + LP filter). Lo freq boost works in EQP1 like adding two signals: -one signal with LP filter aplied -second signal without LP =Boosting LF means adding less second signal to the mix!!. Also the Range of LF boost is too small. Amplifier in EQP1 is symetrical, so there is no shift in DC... but it is not as important as ranges of boost and cut parameters. There is not many parameters in this plugin, so please, why not use bigger internal accumulation... and upsampling.... becouse of LF. Customers may want to Cut Lo Frequencys, but still preserve it for later restoring by using 24 or 32 bit samples!!!!!!.
My sugestion is to corect parameters(ranges) and make as big accumulation as it is possible becouse of LF... Internal processing should probably start with accurate DC offset erasing..... Do Not Try to simulate Tube Gear--- The most important is the shape of the filter, wich makes it usefull for mastering!!!!! So programmers please correct this and make first usable EQP1 plugin for us....
Gotta try this one... sounds really smooth... charming.
