A critical review here by a FM fanatic. FM-Four presents itself as a 4-operator FM synth, presumably to be compared against the Yamaha 4-op synths such as DX21, DX100 and DX27, as well as the 4-op FM chips inside various arcades and game systems. It contains Yamaha's eight standard 4-op algorithms to choose from. It features "improvements", such as additional waveforms other than a sine. This is all quite nice in fact. But due to missing features that come standard on a DX21, FM-Four has two major drawbacks. The first is that it contains no "operator feedback". Which is an essential, elemental component of Yamaha's flavor of FM. The second major drawback is that there is only ONE envelope! The DX21 had four envelopes to control each operator. So this will not provide you with an accurate simulation of Yamaha sounds. But it contains extras such as chorus, a filter and LFO. So it is capable of its own unique sounds. Finally - it sounds a bit clicky. There's no way to declick the oscillators, unfortunately. There are better FM synths out there providing a richer sound. eFemme is perhaps the best free Yamaha-like VST out there.

Los Chip OPL-YM3526 (1984) & OPL2-YM3812 (1985), fueron usados por los Sintetizadores Yamaha PSR-11, 12 & 32 (1986-87) y los Yamaha PSS-140, 170, 270, 360, 460, 470, 560 & 570 (1986-87). Los Softwares Dexed & Oxe emulan al Sintetizador Yamaha DX7 (Chip OPS-YM2128) y el software DDX10 emula al los sintetizadores Yamaha TX81Z & DX-11 (Chip OPZ-YM2414). Si no saben, no escriban estupidezes.

Great FM synth, comprehensible unlike Dexed and modern unlike OXE. Pick this up if you want to get down to modern FM with an ez to use package.

Don't forget it's an FM synth. And yes, they are CPU hungry :D

Both Dexed and DDX10 are not CPU hungry. While OXE is multitimbral.

Great sound with few controls. This made possible creating timbre easily and quickly. It combine sottractive tecnique, fm, and wavetable!!! What do you want more?!!
