Cracking compressor you can see why the SSL is such a popular compressor! Antress has some great plugins, I'm a big fan of Modern compressor (silver edition) black dragon, modern console eq and equalizer also. As for the crackles I haven't noticed anything yet in LMMS or Audacity. Cheers.

Whoever is behind Antress is a genious, and I dont even have this comp because I like glue comp from live. Check all his stuff, really.

I felt obligated to upvote this. So far I've heard that click everyone is talking about a total of one time. If you are really set on a particular setting I don't see why you couldn't run a de-clipper/de-crackle after. However so far I have not found it to be a problem with how I have it set. I found running into it with about a 12db cut and a very low threshold, 4:1 ratio, fastest release, sidechain on 100 or 40, and sweep your attack to taste to be about perfect. This thing has a god damn high pass side chain! IK has one on theirs but waves doesn't even give you the option. Sure there's ways to do it, but it's freaking built in and is freaking FREE!!!!! THIS PLUGIN IS THE ANALOG PREMASTER BUS GLUE I HAVE BEEN MISSING ALL MY LIFE. As soon as you put it on you immediately hear the familiar sound of so many records you've been chasing. It's legit. I cannot believe somebody made this for free. It's gonna be my new secret weapon.

It sometimes crackles with short attack and with fast release. Some mixes are less inclined to this. Some are more, especially when you use a lot of saturation on individual tracks or a tape simulation (some saturators also crackle on themselves and the bus comp only makes this crackle more audible). But in general, if I tweak saturation a little bit and the attack and release, it works well. I also tried another ssl type bus compressors and they crackle too, I think it's a very common problem with fast attack and release and saturation.

I actually like this a lot but can't use it because it crackles on short attack, mostly evident on guitars.

VERY good buss compressor
What I like about SSL comps is their response. Dial anything and you always get a good usable compression. This one is like that.

This version of the famous 4k- consolecomp is really good, mainly for transparent buss- compression. I highly recommand this plugin also for overhead- compression, cause it's very smooth sounding -> slow attack/ medium release/ ratio 1:4 till 1:10/ GR 6 to 10 db. At least you can try to balance it all with the wet/ dry function for easy parallel- compression.

Very good glue compressor for free. Adds a nice warmth to the sound. This is my favorite choice for drums and vocals.
