Piano One, the free hybrid modeling Yamaha Concert Grand.
The Sound of Piano One comes from the Yamaha C7 concert grand, a true workhorse in the professional piano world, appearing on famous concert stages, in international competitions and in prestigious music events throughout the world.
By utilizing the Sound Magic Hybrid Modeling Engine, Piano One offers both the Realistic Sound of Sampling and the Playability of Modeling. Hybrid Modeling provides an instantaneous feeling - no delay - and a truer and richer sound than canbe created with either sampling or modeling alone. What's more, Piano One utilizes only 150MB, which is quite a small footprint, making Piano One usable even on older PCs. There is no waiting time when loading and the CPU usage is so small that it's virtually unnoticeable.
Like other great pianos from Sound Magic. Piano One is equipped with a full featured Add-on system which enables you to enhance Piano One with over 20 different add-ons from the Sound Magic Online Add-on Store. Add-ons add different special features to Piano One. They can make your life a little easier, letting you quickly and precisely modify your sound, your style and much, much more. These add-ons are all precision designed with a particular purpose or for a particular style of music. It's also possible to choose a completely different piano sound when you simply feel you need a new color or a new style.

Gave up on this VSTi. Sure it works after some consideration; locating the file you need to load to get it working, and that's great. What I've noticed is it resets, missing the file over some time and you have to locate it once again. I'd be a bit more persistent if there were a lack of decent piano VSTI's out there, and this being exceptional sonically. As it stands I'll give this a miss.

Yet another installer that doesn't install the plugin properly. Sure, it runs, but doesn't install the "instruments" needed for it to make a sound. A trend with free plugins, for sure, that could be fixed by just providing all the files in a .7z archive.

I'm not fussed about this. It sounds like a low quality rompler and has the same issues that low quality piano romplers always have, that of a strange unevenness from one note to the next. Nothing special. Works fine. Annoying installation method.
I've only read comments crapping on these vsts from you. I'm sure there must be one that meets your high standards, care to share and save me some time?

Thank you, very good sounds
This piano is good
Hi guys,on my 7 zip it keeps asking for a password...Please help
Wie lautet das Passwort für Piano one
What is the password for the zip?
No password required.... Use 7-Zip if you have issues

This has one of the best UIs I've ever seen but the sound is to me underwhelming. There are better free pianos out there.
The better ? For example - ?
Consigue el Kesycape... el mejor vst de piano y teclados.. te volara la cabeza te lo aseguro
My instrument folder is empty, how or where exactly can I get the Piano1.ins file from?
Says cant open file! Using Reason/Mac/Catalina
For those having trouble with sounds not playing, make sure you click the tv screen looking thing and load in the Piano1.ins file
I clicked and there is no "Piano1.ins" file there
The INS file is in the download but you need to place it in the folder of your choice. It's not in the default browse path of the plugin. According to the manual you should not place it in the same file as the vst dll to prefent problems while loading

Sounds like there is something wrong with release envelope, otherwise quite realistic but Keyzone Piano is better IMHO
Unusable, makes Reaper crash and then vanishes from the VST list. Also, the way it is installed is nonsensical, the .msi file should be in the VST folder like most VST that are sampled base do... I can't rate it since it worked no more than a few seconds.
How can I install this plugin in fl studio 12?

One of the best free VSTi Pianos! A lot of free Pianos suffer on the higher octaves, this one sounds good.... 1. Very low CPU usage 2. Clean installer (extractor), fast and simple 3. Runs on old hardware: P4 2.73 GHZ, 3GB RAM (DDR 400 MHZ), OLD HDD (no SATA, no SSD), WINDOWS XP SP3, REAPER 4.78 (clean and stable) 4. Nice presets and GUI and settings. Only the E2, F2, G2 keys have an additional sound, not a big deal so, if you see a piano as an individual, it won't hurt much .... NICE GIFT, GOOD PRESENT.... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

This is the FXP file for instruments, they don't work here in this version, kindly update the files to .ins files. I am using the neo piano mini preset for this one, so far, it's been awesome. Kudos to y'all!!!

It's a mystery why this plug-in is free. As a treat, its absolutely delicious. What's not to like? Airy ethereal reverb, pedal noises, sympathetic resonance, harmonics, perspective (pianist, audience or a combo of the two), etc. My two favourite bits are 1. Key Dynamics. Right out of the box, the Linear setting is too high. Pianissimo is as loud as piano, but on Exp. 2, it has a much better dynamic range where pp's and ppp's sound softer. To be certain, I'm not sure if ppp recordings were done anyway because, even playing softly, notes don't have that dark, round sound like it should. 2. I like the fact that you can designate Piano One to stream off the hard drive or have it loaded totally into memory as well as a bit of both. Loaded totally in memory, you encounter no pops, clicks, hiccups or any other other annoyances that can come from streaming. Oh, did I mention you can open, close or have the lid anywhere between the two? Tres cool. Really, I'd give this plug-in 4.5 stars because ppp sounds pp, but other than that, as a freebie, its definitely a keeper.
Podium Free does not recognize plugins. Another Neo Piano mini had the same recognition
I am on a Mac with BigSur. Anyone knows how to install this? I want to use it with GarageBand and also Midiculous. I downloaded the Preset and the Mac AU file. Thanks
Is anyone else having a nightmare trying to download and install this VST? I've tried from here, gone directly to their website and tried from there, taken their advice and grabbed and download manager and went through that - - - nothing has worked! I get a file corrupted message if straight download and thru file download manager I get an HTML file that opens up a page full of symbols, numbers and letters (programming) and not the file to install the VST. Very frustrating but I want to try this piano as it appears to be a great sounding instrument. Help!!
Download isn't a problem in my case. Getting the 64bit plugin working on two exact the same systems is! One laptop Win10 latest version/FL Studio latest version no problem, flying colours, second same laptop/install ... plugin fails to load. Logfile says something about the plugin being rejected by the wrapper. 32bit plugin works on both systems. And yes, I'm using the FL64.exe on both.
I had issues with a corrupted archive with 7-Zip but it opened just fine when using WinRAR. Goodluck!

Anyone else experiencing the sustain pedal noise option not working? Would appreciate any help on that. Besides that issue, this VSTi is amazing.

This by far is one of the best piano vst's out there! i wouldnt mind spending cash if it were paid....

Piano sound are awesome I love very much, thanks for great virtual instrument.
That's bkz you've misplaced, or rather separate the Dll from the "exe." execution folder along with the Vst's sounds Library.. What you need to do is make sure ALL the assembled part's/complete folder file that came with the P1 etc are all together firstly.. Then you need to MOVE them to your Programs 86xsteinbergVST folder!! And if it came in a ZIP file the best way to handle those is to move (not copy, not extract, not install) the complete "Zip" folder from your downloads area which you should be able to easily find the Zip file there from wench you downloaded it.. Go to the file in your downloads.. Click to make it high light up light blue (or whatever color your file turns when prompted with your mouse cursor) instead of it being grey. Then you wanna go to the top of the page where the features to move, copy files etc. Click move. Another prompt drop box will that should show previously copied, or moved files along with your some of your computers PC OS options.. Look at the very bottom of the box and you'll see the "Choose Location" feature where all your programs & files are located on your hard drive.. At that point you just go to the (program 86xsteinbergVST) pathway location and and engage the MOVING of the Zip file folder to that location! THEN if you wanna look to see if all the associated folder files are there you can.. But don't install, or extract it unless it be necessary to place/situate the file in it's location home base were it will stay and reside.. First see if you can just move it to the proper location and start your DAW to see if it scans.. Then if it doesn't you may have to (extract) it feel me? If you have trouble figuring out how to move the Zip folder in the "Choose locations" you can find your way thru the locations prompts by simply clicking on "My PC, then click OS" which is your (C Drive locations) that will open up the "Programs & Programs 86x" area as you scroll down to place the Zip file in the Program 86xsteinbergVST!! Im figuring you're on a 32 bit host system being the Piano one is 32 bit only.. Which is WHY you have to put it in the 86x program area bkz that's were ALL 32 bit's go.. Either 64x or 86x for 32 bit plugins.. I myself am on a Dell 64 bit system so i put mines in the plain ProgramsteinbergVST with no 86x.. This detailed information i gave you as to how to manage your downloaded programs, and files.. And what to do if it doesn't come with an exe. installer file, just a Zip will hold firm and true for EVERYTHING there after dealing with Vst's, Zips, Exe. files, Libraries, Dll's etc feel me? Iv'e been thru it all with these damned Vst downloads ahah.. I am now a Vst download management MASTER!! I never lose files and rarely install a Vst incorrectly bkz i know exactly how to find them, and where they should be placed..It does get a lil tricky sometimes bkz OLD Vst's typically don't come with support, i.e installer exe file!! But..>> Always go to your downloads area behind the scene of your computer (Windows explorer, or whatever Mac's is called lol)to find anything/file you've lost/ can't find in the programs where you may have misplaced something.. One more very important tip..You can also use your SEARCH box to find the file quickly.. And this is the kicker right here most people don't even use. You can click the downward arrow on the right side of the "Date modified" at the top of your file page where it shows the NameDate modifiedTypeSize of files.. There will be a another prompt BOX that shows the DATES of your most recent, latest, oldest downloads.. It will say Today, Last week, Last month, a year ago etc.. This is how you find exactly what you've downloaded/ been downloading and it will show ONLY the most recent downloads, or whatever you check in the dates boxes e.g last week, last month and so on!! That way you don't have to search scroll thru hundreds of past downloads just to find the one you really want access to.. It's a game changer i'm telling you bro.. The speed, and TIMING saved alone finding, and FIXING folders, files or needing to re install exe file, or get the Dll from inside a Zip folder and so forth is worth learning how to do what i explained.. If you follow what i said to an exact T you should never have an issue with losing Vst folders, files ever again etc.. Tho you will still occasionally fk up and place, install something wrong.. AT LEAST you know you can remedy the issue with little to no STRESS!! Stoppage of work flow making music, or playing with your Vst toy's which is what you really want to be doing.. Not being lost, locked out and can't find the Dll's, or library folders ahaha ijs tho!! Salute to you bro and anybody else who struggles with Vst downloads bkz it's for everybody to make it easier on yourselves. Hope you have better luck from here on out.. And hope what i shared is conducive to making things flow more smoothly for you fam peace..

I finally got record a whole album with this vst!! BEST OUT THERE DEFINITELY!! My album came out totally awesome with it!
Why isn't there any sound after i installed it. Does it need any adjustment of it before it can be used?
Cubase 10 Win does not recognise that it exists as a VST instrument. Here's what I did: - double click .msi file (64 bit) - give it the correct path to 64 bit VST plugin folder - install. The .dll is now in the correct folder but the instrument has not been picked up by Cunase. ANy one have any ideas?
It is 32-bit. You need to install JBridge (costs $16), which will allow you to run a 32-bit VSTi onto a 64-bit DAW.
It's now available in 64 bit too

Thanks guys, sounds brillant! :-) B.R. Kent

I like the sound of this plugin (and maybe Yamaha pianos in general). However, as others have stated, it won't trigger two notes in a row, so you need to cut the first note a bit shorter, which could make the part sound more lively and realistic. It might be a feature, not a bug. ;-)

One of the best free piano vst's out there! use it in one of my song's called "Thoughts" listen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM_4CgY6UFU
Reminds me a little of, "Unchained Melody"!

Does not work in Cakewalk. :(

This piano plugin is awesome, but i'm having a little problem. In LMMS, I can't load the song that i saved. It says "Could not load OS:C/Users/(myname)/Documents/VSTs/PianoOne.dll for some reason." Please help..
It does that sometimes... not just with piano 1 but with other VSTs as well. Just click on the vestige track after your project has reloaded and relocate & select piano 1 again. For that session it should work fine. After that it should continue to load, but sometimes LMMS is a bit wonky, especially if you're in the habit of messing with your plugins folders. Hope it helped

For those who don't hear any sound but see the piano keys blinking in FL, here is a working solution. Don't copy only the DLL, copy also the Piano One folder with the wyc files to the plugins folder and restart FL.
No sound on my FL9, any help??
Just drag & drop the Piano one dll File into your FL Studio plugin folder. (Eventually also re-import it after from there) This usually should fix your issue. Hope this helped.

Sensational Sound!!! Suiting to its name: Piano One, it deserves to be the number one ranked free piano VST here.
(5 / 5)
Just tested in Zynewave and I'm impressed...a very real & accurate sounding one! If you are looking for a great piano sound, take this one and add reverb to it in ur favored DAW! Most of the other pianos around here are way worser than this one, except CVPiano, the only free one that can compete with Piano One. Though, the advantage of piano one is: No installing required and also takes way less CPU and Diskspace than CVPiano does. CVPiano might be slightly advantageos maybe, when using it with a midi keyboard for playing notes quickly in a row. Anyway, Piano One is a MUSTHAVE in any DAW Ins Collections.

Wrote a tune using this plugin. Friend of a friend who works as a music producer for NatGeo may be using my song. Working on that now. Love this sound as do other people apparently. Seriously, one of the best free piano plugins out there. :O Keep rock'n it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IOA7AEsaqY
Very good!
Been on here for sometime looking for the perfect piano sound to suit my needs. I found it. I love it. Fits what I need and sounds beautiful. This sounds better than my Williams digital piano. Thanks Piano One and VST 4 Free.
Someone please help me!!! I extracted the .zip file into the VST folder directly, but it doesn't seem to work. I just keep getting errors, "can't load SE Plugin:.... " with many errors following this. But finally the Plugin opens up, but no sound is played. Please!!!

REALLY GREAT SOUND FOR YAMAHA PIANO VST
(4 / 5)
I don't know what people are so happy about. It has terrible stereo image. Some keys have side louder than mids. So maybe it can be used as a layer, but as a lead piano that is not good.

The best free piano vst!

No trouble at all with this C7 emu. Sounds really good, though no piano expert, it just sounds about roughly the same as a Yammi C7 to me. Thanks again Sound Magic!
I dropped Piano1 into a track and it sounds backwards.. If it makes sense.. Why?
For adding it in FL Studio, add the whole directory to VST folder
I've installed and copied all .dll file to vst plugin, I've load it, refresh, start scan or another things that have said in internet on fl studio 12 but it doesnt make any sound. Does anyone can fix it? please help mee :(
Try this: 1. If you're using a 64 bit Windows, then copy the instruemnt to the "VST x64" folder instead (or the one you've got assigned to this) 2. The *.Zip file comes with two files and a folder. Make sure that it downlaoded correctly (try re-downloading it). Also, make sure that you extract the contents of the compressed package directly inside your VST folder. The DLL alone won't work, you also need the folder that comes with it.
Please let me know if it helped you.

It SOUNDS GREAT. Whoever developed this this instrument did a great job.
Great if you can get it working. I have it on my old XP laptop and it works great. Downloaded and installed it twice on my new PC, once the zip file from one reputable site and then the rar file directly from the Paino1 site. Made sure not only the .dll files but the whole folder was installed to my VST folder, even tried making a new folder.. my Daw scans and finds it... it opens up.. but no sound and the keys don't show any sign of responding no matter if I strike them with my controller or the mouse. I'm about to give up.
I have downloaded and copied .dll to FL Studio VST plugins folder. The piano comes up but no sound. Lights flash when keys are pressed but no sound. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks
My man, you need to put every file related to the any plugin you wanna add in 3 places to be safe. Vst Plugins, Fruity plugins and the other one.
(5 / 5)
A piano VST with a great sound without taking a lot of space.
I don't know if I just installed it incorrectly but mine doesn't make any sound at all ):
(4 / 5)
I compared a couple of plugins and I really like Piano One. I just have some trouble with the low tones, sounding somehow "unnatural", like some sort of artificial rumble rather than a clear clean sound. Can anybody suggest some tweak in the options to correct for this? Thanks!!!
Hey! Use EQ filter, and decrease the lower tones. This should help.
Wow! This plugin sounds as good as some of the 50GB $300 plugins. Thanks so much to the creator! This sounds leaps and bounds better than other free piano plugins like 4front.
Can someone help me explain how to open the vst? I downloaded it and for some odd reason the file is zipped and won't open.
Unzip the file using winrar or 7zip. Just right click and click "extract files". Once the file is unzipped place it inside the folder where the other plugins are located (my pluggins folder is located on Program Files (x86). If you DO NOT have a file for your pluggins just created one and place it there. Then open FL STudio > options > file settings > VST extra plugin search folder, Then just select the folder where the plugin is located :)
Yeah it works bro. THANK YOU very much
(5 / 5)
An excellent sound for a free VST.
(4 / 5)
Excellent sound, light on resources, DO IT, hit that download link.
Installed it , loaded it but it doesnt produce any sound when I play it. Anyone knows what's wrong with that?
Yes. You need more than just the software. Setting up MIDI is allot more complicated than just install and play. Get on the forums at homerecording.com and search or ask for directions. The guys there will help you with anything you need to know.
(2 / 5)
I'm not sure if it's just me but the piano seems to not play the same notes twice in a row which makes it hard to use :(
Just shorten the note before so the next one dont start right away. You can shorten 1/16 of its leinght. Wont make big difference.
(4 / 5)
Solid VST, sounds a lot better after a little tweaking with the reverb etc, only downside is the low E key has a quite a horrible ringing but only at a certain velocity. https://soundcloud.com/will-halford-1/think-of-me-the-phantom-of-the-opera-piano-cover
Tried to install it twice. No sound in Mixcraft. I don't have this problem with other vsts

Good stuff]
(5 / 5)
This is the piano sound I've been waiting for since the mid 90s. You only hear the tone and reverberation. You don't hear the action, or any other crap. This is PURE. Not to mention the decay to silence is flawless, and the tones mingle sweetly. And it's fucking FREE. Also, I'm using this on several years old P4 machines, win7 32-bit, 2gb of ram, embedded audio, and having no problems. Nuff said!
(5 / 5)
Amazing! Best freeware piano!
(5 / 5)
I think for a freebee! Awesome! Love it. As stated just below, relax the velocities and volumes etc for a lovely sound. You can always add the fake (realism) sounds efx after like the stomping of the keys etc.
(5 / 5)
This is the only piano vst I have used and I am not really thinking about trying another one. For those who feel it is not giving you a soft sound when you touch the keys slowly, reduce the minimum volume to 0. Add some release so that the note sustains a bit. This can make you sound really good. Note that the present version also has more options not shown in the figure.
(5 / 5)
Big Sound!
It sounds very natural, but it won't play the same some note twice for some reason... That's a big problem but, if it gets fixed, I will surely use this!
(5 / 5)
Good and natural piano sound. A fine-fine tuning on the release and reverb and I got it where I wanted it. Thanks!
(5 / 5)
What the hell? This is a fantastic sounding piano. Try setting your midi velocity at 70, instead of 96 or 127 or whatever is typical. It sounds much better. Also, mess with reverb and add Ambience piano reverb preset and it will be perfect.
(4 / 5)
To anybody complaining this is trash. Keep in mind this will crackle on a slow computer or if you have a bad soundcard. It has the best controls for any piano vst, I perfer VS Upright 1 but this has the most playabillity.
(4 / 5)
To anyone posting saying this is trash is obviously not a piano player. This is a well respected plug in and it's free so why whinge? Go and find something else or even better, spend some money on a proper one if this is too lowly for you. It's not perfect but it's more than adequate for most peoples use.
(3 / 5)
Just been using it for an hour. It's a decent Piano sound. It's free. Why is everyone complaining ?
Actually sounded really stupid. Doesn't worth the time downloading 150MB of bullshit. I suggest everyone not to waste his time here, thanks.
Great work. Salute.
(0 / 5)
Absolute piece of trash.
(5 / 5)
One of the best Sounding Piano VST I ever used in my life . I feel it more little better in sound quality comparing to pricey "Pianissimo". Great Piano VST - I must say :-) and it's totally free.
This real humanizing sound.
(3 / 5)
Good piano sound but i hear crackling when i use it... Anyone else have this problem?
Try change in audio setting... Use Asio4All
I am a classical Pianist, allow me to describe, this freebie is on top, the freaking best I have worked with, I read some of the others comments, one in particular I will respond to as I praise this, if these controls are limited for you-JUST RUN another plugin side by side in your track BUS, this is pretty simple to do you know! For me, I really don't need to download other pianos sound banks, being clever with the control, limited as you may think, you can change up the piano one to sound like other pianos-a good EAR work's nicely for this so complicated endeavor its actually SIMPLE. Turning the knobs can be FUN for you-Give it a try. Just don't sprain your forefinger clicking the mouse buttons. Don't waste your money on buying Piano VST at your local 'Guitar Center' or on some VST website, download this one, turn on your states classical radio station and listen, you can tune piano one to what is being played.
(3 / 5)
The sound is a little muddy for my liking but this definably is a keeper.
doesnt work in lmms :(
(5 / 5)
Good and natural piano sound. A fine-fine tuning on the release and reverb and I got it where I wanted it. Thanks!
(5 / 5)
I compared the audio for the piano one with a Yamaha Clavinova CVP and then realised how good the piano one is. The shape and fall of the note and the overall tone is good enough to confuse the piano one with the Clavinova's default piano. The only fault with the Piano One sound is that it doesn't fare well for a natural clean studio no reverb sound.
(5 / 5)
Greatest of the all free vst pianos so far.
(5 / 5)
I just downloaded the supreme piano 1 for Macintosh Audio Unit version 1.1
I'm confused because I see Windows download is version 1.3, but in any case, I installed the plugin into Digital Performer, and the piano sound is beautiful. I am wondering why I don't see the 3 buttons as shown on the website in the plug-in. The 3 buttons I am referring to are the ones pictured on the website and are labeled: "More Pianos", "Addon System", and "Web updates". It also does not have sliders for each parameter, but rather knobs. There are also no reverb types, only a knob to increase or decrease. I also ran the windows VST version, and noticed the same thing.
Does anyone know why this is. I am very interested in the other products, but am concerned if purchasing any additional instruments will have this issue.
(5 / 5)
Really great sounding piano VST. Been using it for a few weeks now and I love it.
(5 / 5)
Just a superb free grand piano (Yamaha). Version 1.1 has many improvements, like the release time now is lower so we can play more staccato style for Jazz and Latin stuff ;-) Reverb seems to be the same no matter what preset we select, but there are many superb free VST ones !
