This has the potential to sound so good. It's too bad that it's almost inscrutable to program it without studying a tutorial. And I've owned an FB01, FS1R too. I've had the most complex FM synths on earth and this plugin breaks my brain. I appreciate it exists but it deserves a little bit of refinement.

I can't even use this because of every time i try to import something to it, it crashes my whole daw.

The worst and most useless plugin in the history of music
Any actual reason why, or is this review useless too? If you're gonna review something and say it's bad at least explain why/what could be improved.

Couldn't get it to load any presets. Googled around a bit and it seems like the preset selection part only works in the 32 bit version, not the 64 bit version. An FM synth with an unintuitive design and no presets is pretty useless...
Hi, there is a way to load presets! Depending on your daw, you may need to go into the preset list and click on it. It's hard to explain but you need to change the preset. Here is a tutorial for if you need a better explanation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5VifJ_Dcak

Yo people. Do you know any opm player I can upload all my soundfonts to and click between them (like preset changing). Uploading one sound at a time is killing me. Heeelp pls. paulmaslau@gmail.com

A very good and pristine sounding 4 operator FM synth! Quite versatile and 64-bit too! A great way and a nice tool to learn FM synthesis! Try it, You will not regret it!

A high quality FM synth. It is not just a chip/video game sound synth it is great as a general purpose FM synth too.
Note: The original VOPM has a bug that causes is it to sound 1 octave too high in reference to incoming MIDI note on/off messages. On my website you can download a patched (Windows) version that fixes this. http://vopm.martintarenskeen.nl.
You will find there also a script to convert FB01 sysex to VOPM opm files, and the FB01 factory presets converted for use with VOPM. A more advanced conversion tool that also has this feature built-in is http://dxconvert.martintarenskeen.nl
Thanks man! You were able to get the source code before the site went down!?

Simple, Practice, perfect, 20 minutes to understand it and a lifetime to use it, it is in the top 10 of the best free FM synths .

Serious volume issues. I could not get this VST loud enough. The sounds were crisp and FM. Good for game music composers. Bad for serious music makers, unless of course 8-Bit is your thing. Couldn't get into it.

There's a manual, google it.

It's a super good VST if you can figure out how to actually use it. Good luck.

Very difficult to use!!!
MAC OSX users should try VOPMEX which is a recompile of VOPM with some additional features. http://picopicose.com/software.html
Love this little thing. I used it to create the music for the game Twin Tiger Shark. http://haxel.bandcamp.com/album/twin-tiger-shark

Works fine for me in FL so far. Sounds great!
FOR REAPER WORK - GOOD!
I can't get it to work for Mac either.

Not stable with FL Studio 8 and 9. Because the information around the net is so vague, it takes me half-a-year to be able to make my own presets.
How the holy heck does this work for mac? I'm puzzled?
Has ANYONE actually gotten this to work on Mac? Because I've been trying for days, tried various VST to AU converters. NOTHING. NOTHING works. Every site on the internet says "this works on Mac," and NOWHERE does it EVER say how to GET IT TO WORK.

The sounds of home and arcade video games in less than 1 Mb! A must-try for nostalgics and curious.
