Altair 4 - The SciFi Sounds Lab is best suited for creating soundtracks for movies or games in the genres of SciFi, Suspense, Horror, Fantasy and similar, that need special, spacey, wobbly FX sounds.
It can do more than these, e.g. bell-like stuff, and it even fits well in fairly conventional songs. Altair 4 is also an homage to the movie 'Forbidden Planet' from 1956, it being the first movie with a complete electronic soundtrack using sounds that could have been done with this plug-in.

I've used this synth very happily on Windows but I've started working on a 64 bit Mac and would be really grateful if it were available for Apple. Would definitely consider buying the Pro version.
Mr F Rat, the shop is closed after HG Fotune died in 2014. Have a look in internet on mac sites. There is a tip you can install a system to run PC vsti & fx.

As much as I loved the sounds it wasn't stable enough to use.
I've been using this synth for many years and have never had any problems with it.

Simple, limited, but perfect at what it claims to do.

Never found any use for this soft synth in my own productions, but don't get me wrong. I can sit for hours just tweaking this VST. It's a great bit of fun.

Once again NICE noise...
This is the best ambient sci-fi vst I have ever seen! The sounds are great, and I love the great analog warmth. I plan on using it in some songs I am going to create.
